I've been trying to read up on the VST Engine Expert Settings but it does not appear to be covered in the supplied documentation. If I click on help it gives me a file to download from Steinberg which cannot be found. Anyhow I've searched all the pdf files that come with SX3 and none of them appear to cover the VST Engine Expert Settings.
I wanted to know more about the Audio Priority and the Preload Amount settings and also the Lower Latency tick box - what do all these do? I'm hoping I can adjust them to help me eradicate a processing overload that I am getting even if I am only playing back one single stereo audio file in Cubase SX 3.1.1

The audio prority gives the audio processes a higher or lower priority in Windows.
The preload amount is the amount of seconds of audio that is read from disk before the song is played. For large track counts setting a higher value allows for the project to play without dropouts, but means that ideally you should wait that many seconds after moving to a point in the project before playing (so the disk can be read, and the audio put into RAM).
Lower latency uses a single buffer for the ASIO system, in place of the two that are normally used. That cuts latency values.

I had the same problem with the help file. Grab the updater from here. Some copies must have been issued with an erroneous link, I had to contact Steinberg to sort this one out.
