There's slight problem with loading some corrupted wavs. You could try loading the wave file in wave editor (WaveLab does good job on corrupted files) and resaving it. See if that helps.papawillow wrote:ANyone having joy with the sampler,, some wavs I load keep crashing Orion with 'Memory Could Not Be read' errors.
It would also help if you can provid that wav file for download so we can test it and see what's wrong.

thanks Mark,, works fine now,, I ran Sound Forge Batch Converter over the whole folder and trimmed silent ends and resaved.

I didn't and don't really understand the big buzz about the way of deleting generators, closing windows.
(Better to switch or to minimize windows.)
So I recommend to you two shortcuts; Ctrl+G, Ctrl+J (Maybe they are new for someone.)

Am I right in guessing that if you want to record a pattern freestyle, you have to 'predict' how large it is, or make it huge to begin with? i.e., no automatically expanding patterns?
Not a problem really (given it's a pattern sequencer) but just wondered.

The maximal patternlength is 10000 Steps for a pattern, double-click on the GUI digits to adjust the desired length.
You can put empty patterns (different ones; A1, A2, ...) to the playlist and record your playing in song mode. It's also good for fast and easier further editing, arranging.

Definitely! And an update is coming for the Pro for da Pro's, if I remember correctly on what I've read on the Synapse Forum.us wrote:Pro's not crap![]()
Orion pro's for the pro's (it's more economic too)
But the Platinum version is much more and better, of course.

That's a cool idea, I never thought of that but I just tried it and it works. Although setting a pattern to 10,000 notes hardly seems like the death of creativity.Lance wrote:You can put empty patterns (different ones; A1, A2, ...) to the playlist and record your playing in song mode. Have they fixed the bug where if you load your projects sometimes you get sweet fa but an error screen?
That bug goes back to year dot and is the major reason I switched hosts and have never looked back.
It could have been so good ..alas

it's not when you can double-click to do text entry (maybei should read the docs, eh?)BONES wrote:That's a cool idea, I never thought of that but I just tried it and it works. I lost too many songs with Orion, so although I recognise its a good host for workflow the end result is meaningless to me.Lance wrote:Obviously. Give it a spin.aquar wrote:Have they fixed the bug where if you load your projects sometimes you get sweet fa but an error screen?![]()

No disrespect intended to Orion users though but I now use Live which has its share of problems but nothing I can't work around. Stability has to come first!

I upgraded to 7, but still after starting it 4 times, two times it crashed (New project -> add Toxic 3 -> go to pattern editor -> click record -> start playing -> crash.)aquar wrote:I lost too many songs with Orion, so although I recognise its a good host for workflow the end result is meaningless to me.

I like all the things it has to offer, but I don't want to have to save my project after each mouse click. so I just return to eXT once again.
And please don't start about reporting bugs. I want to use the software, if I wanted software to test for bugs, I'll participate in beta-testing. And so far Orion Platinum and Acid Pro are hosts that suddenly die on me, while eXT and T2 just remain stable.

I know exaxtly what you mean.
Synapse aren't alone there though, most software developers expect the end user to beta test their software (at a charge of course)
But Orion imo is unique in that it had a good user base possibly spoilt by a handful of users who were in complete denial.
Bones is of course one of them (early days) where if someone reported a bug all he would do or say was "it must be your soundcard, it must be your puter, you must be running warez"
Funny that isn't it - since I switched hosts I've had very little problems with my soundcard or my puter ...warez no comment
I remember a time when teelangsun kept reporting major isuues only to be told it was ALL in his mind.
I certainly don't miss those days or the obnoxious sycophants that possibly destroyed a good host.
