However, grymmjack's designs do look excellent to me, fwiw.

Also as an observation only, some of my best long-term friendships started out with disagreements. When you can disagree but still respect each other - that's maturity imho.

i'm just having fun. his sense of humor caught me off guard. he's supposed to be a grouchy old fart shaking his crooked cane and shouting generational-gap things at me that i don't understand.

i'm still laughing at that 'poopbeats' remark. i almost shot mt. dew out of my nostrils for as i read it was enjoying a cool refreshment.

On topic: I can't think of any hosts that I really hate. In fact, I do have *high* expectations for REAPER (although I haven't downloaded the last two betas--it's hard to keep up with his dizzying pace of development.)

And (don't laugh) Powertracks Pro 11 has a ton of new features including VST/VSTi integration and six more auxbusses. I didn't see PDC. It hasn't had that already, has it? Gotta download the new demo.

I played around with it for a bit. It's alright. Kinda like an advanced garageband. The $49 FL Studio or Ext would give you more bang for your buck

I never really considered it until now because it didn't have VST/VSTi support. It is by the Band-in-Box folks, PG Music.

Take a look at the new version intro on this page:

Seems to have a number of things that would be good for students, e.g.,vocal harmonization, chord symbol interpretation.

In download demos of past versions (I've never purchased it--yet), it had this huge, almost goofy-looking keyboard at the top. But it surely would easily show students what notes were being played.

Worth a look. Do you teach instruments one-on-one or in a classroom? (Maybe they have bulk licensing rates.)

I teach keyboard, both individually and small groups. Also ensembles and small classes for Music Tech. So the goofy keyboard could be just fine in fact.
