So I FINALLY got around to making this. :hyper:
It is a Brazilian drum/perc kit for Battery and DK+ (thanks to Branis)
It includes the following instruments:

Surdo 18" (2 velocity layers of natural skin side and plastic head [high and low])
Pandeiro 12" (2 velocity layers of finger, thumb, and palm hits plus a shake)
Small Triangle (2 velocity layers of muted, half-muted, and open plus a short loop)
Large Triangle (same as above)
Berimbau (2 velocity layers of open, muted, coin muted, and closed to open sounds)
Cuica 10" (various samples of this weird instrument)

There are 46 samples in total and the kit is about 20MB uncompressed (13MB zip).

Here is a very short demo song that demonstrates the various instruments in a simple samba arrangement. There is some eq and compression but nothing else on this:

Here is the same arrangement dry and with only the surdo and pandeiro samples:

If you own tracktion, here is an archive that shows how to do the midi for the various instruments:

I tried to export a midi file, but Tracktion wasn't having it, so I'll try to figure out something for you non-Tracktion users soon.

And last but not least, here is the Battery and DK+ kits (with .wav files!!!):

This kit is completely free and you are free to use it in your songs, commercial or not. I only ask that you refer people to this thread for downloading and that you let me listen to any songs you may make with it (not required, but it would be nice :))

I put a lot of time into this and although it is not perfect I hope you find it useful and enjoyable. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in this thread and I'll help you out if I can. 8)

If you feel like donating a small amount then you are certainly encouraged to do so, just PM me. ;)

Cheers! :)

Also, if some kind souls with the capability to convert would do so, then I'm sure others would be grateful. I think a sf2, or sfz, would be great for this!

Wicked.
Thanks Freezman.
Once again I get just what I'm looking for prior to even being able to articulate it ;)

Thanks. Great quality here. I have been looking for some good Cuica samples for a while :tu:

Glad ya'll dig it!

The cuica was the hardest instrument to sample by far. I still think it needs a different mic to record it (I used an Audio Technica 4040). The cuica samples sound good by themselves, but are quite a pain to fit in a mix I've found. Of course you may have better luck than me with them. ;)

Yep!
The "tube" in this case is 10 inches wide and about ~14 inches deep.
It is basically an open-ended drum that has a stick wedged into the skin from the inside of the drum. You create the funky sounds by rubbing the stick with a moist cloth, which vibrates the skin and creates the noise. Yes, it is very sexy! :hihi:

It originated as a lion call in Africa.
Quite a weird instrument to have around, but I can't seem to part with it. :)
