I thinking about buying the SE version of either product to go along with FL 6. I have "demoed" Cubase and really like it but I believe Samplitude SE is free in the next computer music.

If you want it for audio recording, just go with the free REAPER, its much easier to use.

I have Samplitude SE, and I tell you, its a pain in the ass to use. The only time I ever use it is if I have a big project that I'd like to mix ... so I bounce to tracks and mix in Samps (because the only nice thing it has is a mixer .. but then, you can't rearrange it). And even then, it takes me 5 minutes to import the wavs because the easiest way to do it is load it up as an audio, and copy and paste into the project. Ugh.

Samps might be powerful and all, but its just so complicated and bloated, and theres few keyboard shortcuts, and apparently you cant define your own either, etc .... quite a pain.

I would recommend for that some host with a step sequencer like FLStudio.

Samplitude has a graet work flow but you need to spend some time with it.

REAPER is great. I use it all the time. The Pitch Shift isn't perfect, but for the final product you'd probably use your audio editor for that. (or FL Studio, as it has a good time stretch)

Can't you just drag and drop WAV files into an arrangement? (I ask because you can do it this way in Samplitude's little brother, Music Studio's Audio Studio, as well as in Midi Studio for that matter.)

one thing with Samplitude is that u must read the manual many times before getting into it... its so complex in the way it works different to other hosts

ive just bought samplitude, the screen layout did it for me. i like the look of the mixer, i read the midi is average but improving... will wait and see

Is Samplitude and Cubase pretty similiar?
