The trumpet lines in classical music movie scores are of course done using a standard trumpet sound. The heroic part comes from what is played. Try playing some arpeggios of major chords loudly for starters.

As far as where to get trumpet sounds, there are certainly plenty to choose from.
You can find a pretty nice multisampled trumpet for free at Westgate Studios in Gigastudio format.
