Really beautiful GUI
thanks vera!

hopefully if you play guitar you will give freeamp 2.x a shot for your go-to plug, if not guitar for synth, or whatever. it's been a blast making this one and i know no other more deserving developer than joe (frettedsynth).

<braveheart>freeeeeeeeedddddddddddooooooooom!</braveheart>

queue up the emotional heart wrenching bagpipes!
Sometimes I play on guitar, but I'm not very good - I'm layman. Do you know if the Free Amp SE will be released soon?
I want to thank Joe for this very nice and needed plugin
as soon as some UI bugs are fixed and some final adjustments he said it would come. so probably sooner than later at this point. as asseca said, for a beta, it's really 98% done more like an RC (release candidate) than a beta ;)

vera; the amp works great with synths too ..

hey btw grymm - u say u can run 3 instances of Freeamp 2 in a project? what host? and how much cpu u got?

i use FL 6 and i have a P4 3.0GHz HT....and currently 3 instances of Freeamp 1.5 = glitches....i hope v2 allows me to run 3 at once :D

asseca wrote:Some first impressions of FreeAmp2:

For a beta it is remarkably stable, not a single crash so far...

CPU usage is clearly lower than in v1.5, my estimate is about 30% lower ... :)

v2 takes about 1 second longer to open, which is understandable, more modules needs to be activated, including the Guitsyn stuff.
When switching between presets there is quite some audible glitch-noises, however these were also audible in v1.5 ...

For some reason the tone seems to have improved greatly compared to v1.5 ... :D
I would say the overall tone can be very well (easier) adjusted to sound snappier and have more punch then in v1.5

A great part of the sound improvement can be attributed to grymmjack's improved graphics layout, giving a much better oversight on what is going on in each pedal(stomp box).

The Phaser and Flanger are welcome pedal/stomp additions ...

The sync section: Manual/Host/Tap works excellent.
When set to "Tap", and then click on the "TAP TEMPO" at a constant rate will result in the correct BPM...

There will be a WIKI section on-line for you guys to submit your presets(FXP) and banks(FXB) ...
Thanks for the update!! :D Great news....lower CPU consumption
is always welcome. Also glad to see the Phaser and Flanger
as these fx are an essential part of my real pedalboard.
The WIKI is an excellent idea.....I can hardly wait make
some contributions to it!!

Cheers.....CL

Ok

I'm back and after reading the couple pages am quite excited to finish things up :D

Yep! CPU is down in v2.0 the sound changed only slightly for the amps and speakers. The FX had some big work done on them, first they sleep much better (thanks Rick Jelliffe, RJSleeper.sem) so you can bring the CPU way down if little or no FX are used in a patch. The reverb was completly redone with a new module by David Haupt Much bigger tone :D

But the big thing is now it is way more easy to setup with the new UI :D

And yep CapnLockheed Im not much of a ringmod fan for the guitar, but it works real nice with the filters and modulation of the synth 8)

I must say i hadn't tried Freeamp up till now because my J-station rules so much. But man, what have i missed!!! This is unbelievable quality! I'm already peeing my pants with 1.5, so imagine what happens with 2.0 :D .

Excellent news about the new modules!! Rick and David are kings!! The ability to put the fx to "sleep" is very welcome
as is the new reverb. And yeah, ringmod is essential for
some synth sounds....I do occasionally use it on guitar
when I want to be irritating! Bring it on Joe!! :D
