Topic: for me it's still beyond belief that anything with behringer on it could sound all right. But looks like I'm gonna have to check.

It is a fact and I can hear the difference maybe you won't hear it, but you will hear if you have good speakers and the right ear.

I don't care what the mass is thinking...

No, you could use the coax digital I/O for the reverb unit.


And well, I must say that these sounds are indeed quite amazing.

Seems as if this unit is pissing on all software reverbs more or less easily. At no CPU consumption. Hmmm. HMMM!

It does have pretty decent MIDI implementation. Look here http://www.behringer.com/REV2496/index.cfm?lang=ENG and clik on midi implementation chart. Oh boy...i ordered one unit and i cant wait....groovie

WMA is way better than mp3, so for comparing reverb, I won't go and use mp3..

WAV would be best... but my homepage space is to small....

I don't think WMA is better than MP3 - mostly bitrate decides... 24kbps will sound crappy. If you use 320kbps plenty of people will not hear a difference from WAV. Whatever bitrate WMA is using, if you use the same bitrate for mp3 it will be just as good.

I was just pointing out that mp3 is more universal so anyone can listen. No bigdeal. You are taking the time to make examples, you can do whatever you want!

great! maybe now he'll shut up a lil bit - I tried to tell him firsthand that a 100 bux reverb won't beat a 1000 bux reverb - especially from a big gear company like lexicon or T.C or Eventide.

nice to have someone here that has the right equipment. I def. want the comparison.

I only compared to convolution because I do not own one of the high end units from Lex or TC. I need the money for Beer and eating. hehe

you are right, convolution don't capture modulation and the normal convolution also do not seem to model stereo image correctly....

take any dry sound you want, then send it through some of your better units and send me the dry sounds. And I'll try to recreate the reverbs...

really I am not too afraid about it, as I have just downloaded three demo samples from Quantec homepage and tried to recreate their famous Yardstick Cathedral Algorithmus which was quite easy...
I hope you know the Quantec Yardstick (http://www.quantec.de), which is said to be one of the best reverb units ever build.... even better than a PCM90

Of course its extremly hard to make it exactly sound like the original reverb. But I think I came very close.
