Is there a way to hear audio from my line in without recording. I have a guitar connected to the computer and I want to adjust the effects I am using but cannot hear it unless I record.

Make sure the "end to end" button is active both in the master section and in the device properties box. It should work.

Does it have to be playing or is there a way to hear it while it is stopped?

You should hear it no matter what with e-to-e. Also, try record-enabling your track. You don't have to actually hit the play or record button, but just have it enabled on the left side. Make sure there isn't a slash through the "R".

Yeah. It's annoying to find the first time, but once you know where it is, you're golden.

Recording with Tracktion
