Never heard of it before. Is it good? I see from the info under "hosts" that it's very cheap - useful for students?
I never really considered it until now because it didn't have VST/VSTi support. It is by the Band-in-Box folks, PG Music.

Take a look at the new version intro on this page:

http://www.pgmusic.com/powertracks.htm

Seems to have a number of things that would be good for students, e.g.,vocal harmonization, chord symbol interpretation.

In download demos of past versions (I've never purchased it--yet), it had this huge, almost goofy-looking keyboard at the top. But it surely would easily show students what notes were being played.

Worth a look. Do you teach instruments one-on-one or in a classroom? (Maybe they have bulk licensing rates.)
reminds me of good ol' cakewalk pro audio ... remember how simple and cute that was?

it's good that there is such a diverse selection of hosts.

ooh, someone should make a TEXTMODE host! for us console cowboys! how cool would that be?

@Bill:
Are you lost or something? This is not a military form SIR!
Go out little bit from your 'unit' and gain some social experience before you categorize the persons here to either lower or higher than you!
This was a great and unique thread that made us closer to each other by making fun of different hosts (our fav included), till you came and spoiled it with your military mind :(
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Bitwig 5, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I've never been accused of *that* before. If I have ruined your bonding process, Im sorry. It is not social skills I lack. It is, perhaps, being unknowledgeable about the cyberculture of this group.

I mean, how was I to know that I interrrupted a k-v-r host watersports party? I was so blind, and military-like, and quick to judge. Some of those cracks about SAWStudio sounded so real--so ill-informed. How was I to know?

Group hug...and back to the good-natured insults.

SX3 / Sonar: Music industry equivalent of accountants

FL Studio: Teens and fanboys
Orion: Only two users - Bones & Kriminal
Logic: Supporters of corporate evil (PC betrayl not forgotten)
N-Track: People who should have known better
Reaper: Ex-musicians now more interested in beta testing
Traktion: Cheap-ass zealots
Ableton Live: Smug fashion victims

( It's just a laugh OK )
LOL awesome post.

BTW on a more serious note, those who hated Orion because of its interface, workflow or stability should give V7 a go, since it fixes all that. :)

i hate most of them somehow, not tried energyxt yet, but i think it's time to try it out. so many hosts having almost all features, but workflow doesn't work. i have reason + live, and i would say that reason is the best workflow soft ever for me, live is ok, but could be a lot better. and i'd use only reason - you know . . . 8)
