It's She Moved Thru The Fair redone as, what Irish Folkie Ambient Trance? I dunno. Tranceport Convention?

Hey funxi,
why not taking it as first draft and going on from it...like:
Sing the main (irish) melody (no synth) and acompany it with a hard-arppegiatedtrance beat?
The beat should come in not so early. First the irish theme has to established and when it is, WOOM, Bastard Irish Trance :hihi:
Seriously, I could imagine that when I heard your tune. :)
Good thinking! :)

First Impressions, July 4 Edition:

My Brain's Inside The Computer/Dr.ApostropheX: Billed as JuJu Highlife Synthpop, and it certainly is. Right off the Luaka Bop label, and sounding like Weird Al does David Byrne. Excellent I'm no great singer but the hell with details vocals, nicely layered and mixed. Tremendously clever -- a la They Might Be Giants -- true to both its roots, and well produced.

The Ancient Banjo Under The Sun/Groovesys: Jesus, the professionals are out already :( ...this one starts as a fabulous spoof of the Emerson Lake & Palmer style at its most bombastically arpeggiating, then slides into a hillbilly dobro+banjo romp, for a while. By one minute into it, he's off in another direction...hard to finger (pun intended). Kinda Sting chillout C&W music. Oh yeah, newgrass/dawg music. And all within 1:40? Shee-it! Very well put together. Not all virtual instruments, I hope...? If they are, we're doomed, doomed...I might have mixed the bass a wee bit lower, but other than that...wow!

Caballo Negro/Los Frijoles aka S.Hush: More professionals...can't we have an amateur section ? Billed as Tex Mex metal...half in Spanish, half in English...the metal being mostly kazoo- & head-in-a-bucket vox processing a la death metal, and some sheet aluminum fuzz guitar. The Tex Mex is cool, though my ears kept saying The Specials or some such UK bier-und-ska musik band. Has a really brilliant production sheen with all the fake excitement studio hoopla going on. 8)

FunkyChickenDance, you're all DOOMED!! The track was made entirely on a MacBook Pro using Logic Express and an old Oxygen 8 controller. All the instruments were virtual.

I mixed the bass high on purpose. I was going for Chris Squire's in-your-face distorted bass that was prominent on Yes's 70s records, mainly Fragile and Close to the Edge.

Thanks for the compliments. Who knew there was such a thing as Chillout C/W? This month's contest is gearing up to be a great one.

I am still stuck trying to find a combination that I can work with. Pretty low in the creativity department this month. The good news is that my first serve and topspin backhand have improved :)

The good news is that my first serve and topspin backhand have improved Smile
 I played a couple days ago after, oh, about sixteen light years and lemme tell ya...actually i'd rather NOT tell you.

I'll be playing today as well. Hopefully i'll be rallying for more than 20 seconds.

As 4 ideas:

1)Ballad virtuoso: Play a reaaally nice, slow ballad...and shred over it with some finger tapping distorted guitar! Throughout the WHOLE song!

2)Trance hop: Gangsta rap over Trance music

3)Square dancing grindcore: Name says it all :hihi:
Round and round she goes.....grindcore/hardcore style!

It helps to play on clay if possible and make sure you warm up properly. Enjoy the game.

Cheers,

It has been my experience that anyplace other than where you are at present is at the very least, somewhere else.

Greg Lake said to Boogie Emerson: "We did this 'lucky man', you remember? Let's do something similar..a bit more weird....yeah, the 'Strauss'-thing. And I won't sing, 'cause I sold my voice to 'Father Christ-mess'." "Ok", said old Emerb/moog, "but where is the ladies' choir, you promised to put in?" "It's the only thing, I'm missing".

Just heard Choc's tune. Thought it should have a bit more classical touches in it. Half way in, it goes into full DnB/ambient and not much else.

It also may be too long for the contest. It shows 2:05 in my iTunes player. And it's encoded at 192kbpbs.
