naa....cubase and samplitude are not similar. compared to fruity loops (which is an animal for itself....not really a tracker...neither really a common sequenzer) they're sure another kind of tool: they both are audio/midi sequenzers....but have a very different work flow. i would also say that cubase is easier to work with. but again...a matter of taste. samplitude has great audio possibilites...on the other hand midi integration is relativly young in the prog and a little bit clumsy. i think cubase se (if you upgrade from your old soundlblaster cubasis for 70 bucks) is a great start. for a taste of samplitude you can buy an older (few months) certain german keyboards magazine (5 bucks) and get a free samplitude se version.

ps. just have read that your main aim is hip hop. then sure fruity is ideal because you only have to string together some patterns and finished is the song.....propellerheads "reason" might also be an comfortable option for you.

REAPER or my Babya Logic are easier to use and parts of both run with WINE on the Mac. Comparing Logic 7 to Cubase SX3 would be more like it.

Is Samplitude and Cubase pretty similiar?
