Ooops... M, sorry to follow your rant with "positive energy" but... it's never been buggy for me! (er, maybe back in the 3.5 days) but usually crappy freeware plugs and stuff... Hey, any of those cars bug-free? :)

Post

Why not give 6.2 to your son? It's a good workhorse, I bet you never stumbled upon a single one of the mentioned bugs ... :)

Post

hi, just to let undecided users know, I've always loved orion platinum, think it's the best host
and has great workflow, even for more complicated music.
However, just like some other users, I was really annoyed with the random crashes that happened when recording midi, sometimes in playlist, sometimes in pattern mode. This got me really worried
everytime I started recording.
I want to reconfirm that everything with these issues now seems to be fixed, like rich announced, orion is working crashproof at the moment for me, no more random crashes !

great

Post

Something that I'd forgotten until I demo'd Orion again was how nice the included effects are. There quite a variety of things and all of them seem to be really well implemented (and light on CPU).

I can understand why many Orion users don't use any (or at least not many) 3rd-party effects.

Post

They just don't know any better ;)
Now available with added Inherently Suspect Justification!

Post

I have been able to repeat the crash when recording patterns into the playlist with several of orions own generators

have tried suggestions given in the support forum
scant as they were

really do wish I could join in the positive reviews
but I never had this particular problem until I updated to 7

I just got orion 7 to crash trying to record patterns from the sampler into the playlist.
I didn't even know you could do that, much less why you would want to. But I just tried it and whilst I did get that noise, ORION kept playing and recorded the patterns. Its clever how it knows if a pattern is empty and doesn't record it but I don't see how it has any advantage over painting them in with your mouse.

It looks like the creator of Orion uses a jackass as his spokesperson.
Last time i checked, i didn't fork out almost $300 bucks for list of bugs.
The upgrade charge is not the issue, i just want a stable old version that i could one day pass over to my son.
You could try my version 2.0 from 5 or 6 years ago. Hardly ever crashed on me. Did you even bothe rto read the list? Only the first one is anything that stops you from doing whatever the hell you want to do, the rest are all just minor things or occassional problems, many of which most users either didn't experience or didn't notice.
It's because of the un-mannered behavior of that bone-head is why I haven't bought any of their plugs.….
Poor baby.
It's the same thing with Fxpansion, they find bugs, but they fix it openly, they don't do a massive upgrade to cure the many issues.
$39, a massive upgrade? You're an idiot and in case you haven't noticed, ORION had 8 free point releases between paid upgrades and several free bug-fixes on top of that. So do you really think that paying $39 every second full version is too much? Do you further believe that it would be the best use of very limited development resources to partition off bug-fixing from enhancements or does it make sense to do both concurrently? Do you even have a brain?
Look I understand Rich needs to make money for his time, but obviously he knew of these bugs before-hand; I mean it surely didn't all happen when he was working on V7!
And perhaps he could team up with a big company.
Why? So the focus of development could be to make money instead of producing good software? Are you really that f**king dumb? Point me to any commercial software upgrade that does not include bug-fixes. Just one will do.

In case you didn't notice, he refuses to pay for ORION, he is just being a dick.

let me clarify...again
not recording midi notes into a pattern in the playlist

recording the switching of the generators patterns in the playlist
which I'm pretty sure anyone who actually uses orion knows about.
that's one of the things the f**king playlist has a record button for.
hey, wow,it's even covered in the friggin manual.

I can reproduce this crash with any given generator.

I still haven't tried that feature yet... having been so used to just cmnd. keying them in, but it seemed sort of dumb in a pattern sequencer anyway? I mean, I have to record what I'm doing in Logic, because it's a Linear sequencer... I would think in a pattern sequencer, it would be a matter of selecting the patterns I want, and stringing them together... Hmmm, have to try it anyway! 8)

I just got some 'support' from bones over at the synapse forum

seems the problem is I'm a dumb-arse for wanting to record pattern sequences into the playlist :hyper:

why can't I just paint them all in with my mouse like he does :smack:

and I just want to go expand on that
for all you dumb-arses recording pattern sequences in Live and P5 and maybe even FL

stop it :smack: stop it now!

I put my location at the end so anyone who deals with Orion would know that i paid for that software.

The folks at Fruity Loops, Energy, Arthura, Fxpansion, Cakewalk and others, could also match my name
and location, and can also verify that i paid for their software with my name and zip code.
...
I believe you weren't hugged when you were a child. Or your mouth is this big 'cause you are not blessed.
So with you having the mouth of a jenny ass, i must conclude only a mother could like you.

Who ask for your opinion on my original question anyway?

You like dipping in people problems, like the a pussy full of shit
... I bought this software and others with my hard earned money.

I may not be as rich as you or poor as Rich, but i've been around too.

I have a list of peoples that i've dealt with in new york and los angeles,
so i am not overwhelmed or phased by your closeness with Rich.

I only wnat to know if i should burn my software, that is useless,
and download V7, that is more stable.

If you didn't know, as an Fxpansion software owner, i can pay a 20 bucks, and they will send me the
current full version on dvd...if Rich did that too, then would order the dvd.

:? I don't understand your first quoted passage. I understand every single word of it, even the wnat (want), but I can't get the meaning of the passage. :help: What language do you speak in California?

Orion Platinum 7 is a download product (also).

On the second passage;

FXpansion has 1000 or 10000 times bigger profit, than Synapse, and their products are distributed as commercial boxed products worldwide.

Szóval nem értem azt a furcsán fogalmazott angol mondatodat. Tudom, hogy az angol nyelvtudásom elég gyenge, de azért értem a szavaidat, ámbár a mondatod jelentéséről csak homályos sejtéseim vannak. :ud:

What? I exchange messages/emails with Rich about twice a year, at best. I hardly know him at all. There are dozens of posters here I know way better than Rich.

Who f**king knows? What is the nature of your stability issue? Surely you are the one in the best position to find out?
