I can record the patterns...but whats the point if you cant ------- hear them.

trying to record patterns without the mute button activated gives me a lovely buzzing sound followed by a crash every time

with orions sampler

please to point out what I could be doing wrong to make orion crash when trying to record patterns into the playlist
couldnt reproduce here

any more details?

Is multicore supported ?

Post

In some way Orion is already multicore supported, Mark has said something about it. The real multicore support was planned for the release of v7, but then it was refused to include, it's not ready for the release yet. Anyway it's not a big advantage for audio apps, because synchronizing the works of the cores could significantly raise the latency (and ?stability). So it's hard to implement in a way, which could give a decent amount of advantages.

I think they are just having difficulties with the implementation :). SX manages to turn multicore support into a huge advantage. Plugins distribution between two processors seem to be working well in SX (i havn't done anything inensive with Cubase though)

ok maybe BONES is not samoan, but he's got a sedentary full time gig, and i think where he comes from the bigger you are in height and girth the more you are left alone, and he likes to be left alone alot i think.

kind of like the meercats, when they defend their turf they just stand up fully erect and then the offensive meercats decide their odds based on the defensive height and girth. wise meercats stay away from big meercats.

FWIW I can replicate the loud buzzing/harsh noise issue when pattern recording in the playlist via switching patterns on a generator. I don't get a crash, but the first few patterns worth of time I get some Really Nasty Aggravating Loud Noise.. then somehow it settles down and starts working!

Posted on the Synapse forum as well. It just took me some time to figure out how to use that functionality, I had no idea it existed!

Other than that, V7 has been rock stable for me - just like V6.2 was. Maybe I'm not pushing it hard enough, or something.

Yes, exactly that's the reason. It's just not tested well enought and there were some issues which we didn't have time to fix. Richard bought dualcore computer just recently and I upgraded mine yesterday/today, so Orion is definitely going to work with dualcores.

Fix for this will be in the next (free) update, as workaround you can try to prior recording add pattern(s) beyond the point you record to, so you aren't recording directly to the end of the song (ie. on new song everything is "end"). It's not pretty, but should allow you to do pattern recording before next update.
