PMJI, but this is not the Orion support forum. It's a courtesy of guys like Mark Vera to answer questions here as well...lizards wrote:thats all that needed to be said in the 1st place before people got all pissed,Mark Vera wrote: Fix for this will be in the next (free) update, as workaround you can try to prior recording add pattern(s) beyond the point you record to, so you aren't recording directly to the end of the song (ie. on new song everything is "end"). It's not pretty, but should allow you to do pattern recording before next update.
I guess Orion just wants to keep that lard ass reputation

If you bother to go to the official support forum, you'll note that the only real condescending response was from BONES, who is well known as a flaming arse anyway. And he's not official support personnel, although he'll post 10,000 times if anyone even mentions ORION.
There should be a disclaimer at the top of every BONES post, warning that you're probably going to get flamed and it's nothing personal, he does it to everyone.

Something must be cleared. We talk about pattern recording, but in fact recording of patterns (e.g. recording midi or automations) works perfectly, only recoding pattern changes / switching has some troubles, which is a very rarely known and used function, even for the oldest orionauts. I use Orion more than 3 years now, but I never used it. Of course if it's allowed by the software, then it must be work properly. It will!lizards wrote:thats all that needed to be said in the 1st place before people got all pissed,Mark Vera wrote: Fix for this will be in the next (free) update, as workaround you can try to prior recording add pattern(s) beyond the point you record to, so you aren't recording directly to the end of the song (ie. on new song everything is "end"). thank you Mark Vera for acknowledging the problem exists and offering a workaround until it's fixedMark Vera wrote: Fix for this will be in the next (free) update, as workaround you can try to prior recording add pattern(s) beyond the point you record to, so you aren't recording directly to the end of the song (ie. on new song everything is "end"). I find this kind of odd considering I got the idea from reading the manual when I bought orion 5Lance wrote: Something must be cleared. Often the problem is that Rich forgets what he has put in, so it doesn't get tested and doesn't make the list of improvements/features. e.g. I don't think Rich listed the Scissor feature in the Piano Roll or teh new CTRL+ALT+C shortcut to copy all patterns from an instrument. I've used the former a couple of times but the latter one makes my life soooooo much easier than having to deal with that extra dialog every time you want to cut/copy/paste.
Yesterday was probably the third time I have ever looked at the manual for anything, other than when we've been asked to check it before a release, which hasn't happenned for a few years.

You can cut all the notes in a pattern or selection in two by pressing the "S" key, "S" being the first letter in the word scissor. i.e. you get twice as many notes but of half the duration of the originals.

NO, that was my point. Who the f**k knows what else we've all forgotten about [the beta testers, that is]?
