VST Sampling problem

I'm trying to sample the MrRay73 VSTi with Directwave, but since the MrRay plug doesnt use presets, after opining OPTIONS in Directwave and selecting the mrray.dll file nothing shows up in the Program field, if i click process it says finished but it doesnt sample anything. Is there a way round this?

Does the plugin have a default preset? I.e. does it make sound when you load the plugin in a host without loading a specific preset?
