Creamware reverbs and synths

In waiting for new reverb unit to come i was just thinking about their reverbs. Discussion on KVR about Creamvare reverbs is second to none. But here and there you can read something about them (like that programmer behind CSR is same as behind Masterverb Pro, they have good lexi-like sound etc.).
Does anybody use creamware effects and can we get any chance to hear some experience with them?
What about synths? Are they good/excellent or same as any VSTi? (by demo of some sounds they are realy superior to me but this is audio demo so...)

No, the programmer behind CSR did the STW P100, A100 etc. for the Scope Fusion Platform. The Masterverbs are standard from Creamware and do not immitate Lexicons.
I think it would be possible to do IR's of some of the STW reverbs, but not all as they incorporate modulation as well.
If you visit planetz.com/forums you can get the information you seek by doing a search.

The stock synths and effect that comes with the CW card does'nt impress me at all. The only one i found that was really good was a freeware loosley based on a Jupiter 6 called Saturn but VSTs are just so much less hassle to use i don't even bother with anything else anymore.
Although i hear there are excellent stuff to buy for that platform although i'm not that interested in the perfect Prophet 5 emulation.

I've had a Pulsar 2 for several years. I don't use it much except for routing and as a sound card these days because I'm bored with it really (what do you expect after 4-5 years?) What it does have is excellent though. I wish SOMEONE would come out with a pattern delay like the one with the Creamware in VSTfx format though. The reverb is pretty good. I prefer Dreamverb on the UAD-1 better though. The synths are pretty good, but again, something I haven't touched in awhile. I have used them on projects before though, so they haven't gone completely untouched by me. They just used to be a ROYAL pain in the ass to incorperate into your host. Supposedly that's fixed now, but I lost interest before the better incorperation happened. Still, with its I/O config, I can't find anything to replace it. I need 2 ADAT's, SDPIF and either 1/4" or RCA analog in/outs in one card.

I've lurked at the creamware stuff for ages, and it appears that the creamware/vst leap is much more dramatic when it comes to synths rather than effects.
Indeed a large part of the synths available are emulations of old classics (way better sounding than the vst ones btw), but on the other hand there are really wild original stuff like solaris and most of Zarg's synths really, as well as a handful of other developpers.
The real power of creamware cards also lies in its modularity, Modular 3 seems awesome, and the flexor modules too.
Listen to these demosIMO nothing comes close in vst world, there is something about the sound, that seems so much more detailled and full to me...
Problem is if you want to use creamware for all your synths and processing it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg ...

i also owned a pulsar (sonic rocket booster) ... kinda mixed feelings, coming from a mix ++ tdm system ...
the dsp hunger of some really good stuff on the srb was inacceptable, and the graphics were far to slow ... if they would've only get their plugin integration into the vst world (don't recall what it was called) to run, that would've been something at least ... the synths were not too bad these days, but, like i said, the dsp hunger was way off ... so i used the srb mainly as a routing system, which it was fine at ...
i miss that kind of routing on all other asio cards ...
the most negative thing was that pulsar's asio drivers were written as the worst on the planet ... no routing (straight stereo out) or pulsar-plugin used, absoluteley idle it suck away 30% of my old cpu these days ... after i directly removed the srb and it's drivers i installed a hammerfall digi 96/52 with it's drivers and it did not use _any_ cpu at all ... man, was i positiveley surprised ...

That's funny.I've used both a Pulsar II and a RME 9652 and did'nt notice any difference in CPU use. Probably is one but nowhere near the 30 % difference you quote.

I have a pulsar - cna't really say I rate the included effects much.
They synths are nice-ish, but very resource hungry.

yes, it's called x times oversampling ... but it goes along with a lot (mostly too much) of dsp/cpu hunger ...disturb wrote: Listen to these demosIMO nothing comes close in vst world, there is something about the sound

and it wasn't only me who experianced this these days ... some of my friends had the card too, and they experianced the same, also some guys on the logic list had that problem ... it was well known ... dunno about how it behavs now, but back in the days creamware was nothing but a big disapointment to a lot of users ... it promised too much all the time and couldn't deliver the promised ...
again, dunno how that is nowadays ...

It works, but perhaps not always straight out of the box. I use XTC-mode (as it is called) religiously.brok landers wrote:if they would've only get their plugin integration into the vst world (don't recall what it was called) to run, that would've been something at least ...

ahhh .... yes ... it was called xtc mode, right ... so it finally works now?
there was no hype wherever in the press or the net about the fact that they got it to work finally ... not that i was aware of at least ...

I don't think they still actively support it actually, but it at least has worked for me since the last real update (which is really old - 3.1c or somthing).
The forum has details on how to get it working, but because of these flaws, the platform is less popular.

It works, thought ehre are still minor issues (no typing in of parameter values etc.) & last I heard one still has to manually edit the .ini file for correct latency values - that may have changed with the latest update that I didn't bother with yet.
