imho if you want to go one step up, get some extra cash and pick up kajerhaus(SP) GAC1, its $138 right now for the summer sale, I picked it up and the eq blows me away, try the demo...

I own glisseq and unsure if i want it anymore, even though it was a pretty king sounding EQ.

I think you don't want the GAC, but the GEQ: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/939.html
Weather it's better or worse than posihfopit or ParisEQ, you have to decide...
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image

At least posihfopits CPU performance (in the comparable digital economy mode) is better on my machine, although I see everything through pink glasses of course.

Happy decision,

Christian

P.S.: If your decision is based on the price/worth, than you can be sure, that 'Electri-Q's price will rise. Just because some people always think expensive=good

If you qualify for the 50% academic discount, wavearts trackplug would fit the bill...

Damn, I should get a commision for how often I've posted suggesting this... :) I'm just a very satisfied customer, and I don't think enough folks know about their generous acad discounts.

HI

I think in the realm of software EQ's you will find it really difficult to find an EQ at ANY price point that is going to deliver up any sonic flavor that goes much beyond what 'Posihfopit'is offering up.

FWIW I don't think 'Posihfopit' is particularly ahead of the game - I just think EQ's have some way to go, before they deserve the higher pricing that many achieve - in this respect 'Posihfopit' puts many companies to shame; that charge high prices for EQ's that are no better sonically at boosting higher frequencies.

I just don't think that there is a 'track' eq out there that doesn't break up at higher frequencies, that doesn't have metallic artifacts when boosting high frquencies, that doesn't splatter ...

The PLP EQ is the only EQ I have used (other than the PowerCore Sony Oxford) that allowed you to make substantial boost or cut to the higher frequencies with a 'natural' sound - by that term I mean it did not introduce all those harsh metallics, ringing, distortion.

Most eq's seem to have a varied ability to boost lower frequencies - midrange is another area of contention.

If anyone can point me to an EQ that has a lowish CPU signature and has smooth sounding boost over the whole frequency range - please let me know.

Flipper.

What I would do in your situation, is make a list of the relevant EQ's, regarding price range, and maybe quality based on reviews... And then create a shortlist of 2 or 3 and thest those extensively. In the end you'll probably want several EQ's with different characteristics though. I would go for the Electri-Q now, because even if you don't like it, you can probably sell it for the price of the group buy. (And it will help me get a lower price).
