Yeah, there are a lot of work-arounds you need to bow to in order to get it working.
Typing of parameter values don't work unless you load a MultiFX module (or any other module with an insert - like a channel module i.e.) first and then the prefered effect inside it. But then again you can't vst-automate that device, only via MIDI.

I am a devoted Tracktion user, so I use the CC-rider VST for such automation purposes.

Anyway, I just wanted to say I like the system, the sound and the flexibility it offers, and I think the platform has a bright future (new plug-in developers). It sounds great and that is what counts.
I own two Pulsar II cards. Second one I bought cheap of eBay.

well, i can hardly believe that ...
at least for high res frequencies in the modulators (such as used in ffm, am, ringmod or fm) they could hardly do without i assume ... as the platform is fixpoint there is on top the assumption that they heavily use oversampling, which, by the way, is a great thing to do, as it delivers high precision ... the only letdown is the big dsp hunger of these processes .... but of course i might be wrong ...

I got the Creamware Masterverb Pro recently (for nothing) and am pretty impressed with it - I wasn't planning to buy it as the standard ones are, as has been said, nothing to write home about, but it is a lot better than I'd expected and at zero CPU cost very useful as you can create some huge lush spaces with it that in a VST would take a lot of power. The Psychoacoustic Eq, PsyQ is also wonderful - is really good for livening up sounds.

Most of the stock effects and synths are not that great I have to say (apart from the Pattern Delay, the SoftSat I use a lot to analogise VSTi's, and the Lightwave synth of course the Modular but if you hunt around there are some great freebies - my fave is Zarg Comb synth). But the real quality synths and effects you have to pay extra for - but they are worth it imho. I never use XTC mode as I like the complex routing - but if you use the Scope environment properly you find that you start thinking about Asio, MIDI and DX apps, Hardware and standalone synths all as objects you can plug into Scope so thats how I use them - so for example I can use a standalone MIDI app like Fractal Tune Smithy and wire it directly to a standalone synth like SimSynth, or a Sequencer like Tracktion, or send it to a hardware synth all from Scope and then record the lot either using Tracktion or using VDAT (an 8 track Scope DAT emulation recording plugin that records flawless 32 bit integer) - much more powerful and flexible than sticking to the ASIO sequencer paradigm.

you mean, all parameters are updated every sample?? that's very luxory ...

nevertheless, still in many cases updating by samplesize isn't enough, so oversampling often still is required, or you will have unwanted sideband effects ... did you program the engine?
all in all, i listened to the demo mp3's it's a very good sounding synth, though very clean, even with saturation ... sounds stuffed with the typical creamware character ...

I love CW stuff. The possibilities offered and the general sound quality are great. Only the plugins now bundled with the cards are probably worth more than their native counterparts, plus you get dsps which leave the cpu free to do whatever you want...

I like the masteverb pro but the stw p100 is in a class of its own. Mod III and flexor are beyond description too, their posibilities are so huge. Pro-12 is a favourite of mine too, to name only this one. My 15 dsp system gives me the processing headroom that I need to mix my stuff.

That totally nails it on the head for me - SCOPE is the most important thing, not which crappy DAW i'm using. Sadly too many people have 'bought in' to the whole doing-everything-in-the-DAW philosophy due to ease of use rather than sound quality. And it's really not that difficult to use (in fact coming from a TV background i find the routing is just like my job a lot of the time) and ultimately totally flexible (sideachains is the simple example that still seems to be a pain in the arse for Cubase users since day one).

(Amused, Hi BTW! It would be nice if u could upload some more screenshots and show what everyone is missing here!) I have a Scope Pro card with extra synths Solaris, Pro-One, the Flexor modules for the Modular, SpaceF Modules and Red Drum. Also I got some extra stuff with the Scope 4.5 upgrade. The standard synths ain't much cop that come with the card apart from Lightwave and the effects are ok'ish - but a delay is a delay anyway etc. The vinco compressor is great and the Sonic Timeworks Reverbs are great by Warp (the same guy that now works for IK Multimedia - i think he's Danish?)

You have to pay for this extra stuff. If you want a good deal on a Scope card go to www.infinitevortex.com (I think) - I got mine 18 mths ago for £750. Ok the card is bloody old but its still great and I'm sure Creamware will come out with a new one as they have been using more powerful DSPs on their ASB instruments.

you do get aliasing from audiorate modulation, especially if you do something like modulating waveshaper with oscillator. still, i love option of being able to do that, and there is not much other softsynths that allow crossmodulation of filter's cutoff and resonance with such nice results. another thing that makes Modular irreplacable for me is ability to create complex feedback loops with 1^z delay (Creamware stuff processes audio per sample not in blocks). Eg. i can put some filters and fx in feedback loop of selfmodulation of FM operator, and i am still able to get the 'FM saw' effect from it. i think maybe Reaktor can do it now, since they use SyncModular technology

it comes in a version that has modular ins/outs so it can be expanded using the Modular system (bit like an Arp 2600 in some respects I suppose)
