Well, here is the next in a series of samples that got lost when Mats had to shut his site down. This time it's his clarinet samples. Anyone who has these will tell you they are fantastic.
They are now available for download for free. 107MB total in soundfont format. There are three files, and instructions on how to use the files correctly, which is a must read for getting the most out of them.
Just get them at:
http://www.sampletorrents.com
Enjoy! And let me know if anyone has any problems!

This clarinet has been available at sf2midi since last year when I got Mats' permission to post it there. Good luck with the torrents. I assume you got Mats' permission for this. Is he still at xo(at)telia(dot)com?

I didn't know it was at sf2midi. But then again, one of the reasons this was started was because people didn't like how it was organized there. Regardless, it's a good addition.
And everything is cool on permissions.

Actually, just so everyone knows, Mats was extremely pleased with the idea, and it makes him happy to know that he has made a little difference.
Quite inspiring email if you ask me!

Yeah, the search engine there is lame. Hard to get people to put the right keywords on the files they upload. On the positive side, there are over 20GB of free soundfonts on sf2midi.com. You can find most of the other Helgessen soundfonts by typing in "mats" and "maestro" in the search engine.
Good to know that he's still at the same email, I need to contact him about distributing a looped and edited version of his Malmsjö Grand Piano. Hope he's OK with it 'cause I spent about 30 hours looping those short samples
I know he will be. I'll send you the link once I have it up on the www. and you guys can add that to your Helgessen collection. It's kind of a rock and roll piano, very midrangy, and now you can play notes over 2 seconds long. The original version is listed there as "concert piano, grand piano".

Well, I'll paste his email into here. Here is exactly what he told me:
Hi Brent!
I started out making music a couple of years ago. As a young student with not much money, I couldn't buy any studio equipment, and no samples of any kind. I had to download a f-load of free samples from the internet, and I learned to tweak the samples to suit my needs. I also started making my own little projects. They grew bigger and bigger and as I learned, they grew more useful. I see posting them online as a way of giving back to the community that helped me getting started.
Spread them! Torrents kick ass. My wish to you and others is to use them in any possible way you can, tweak, fiddle and rip them apart to suit your needs. Make them useful. Just let me take credit for the basic material, the sample sets. I include readme files for people to understand the idea behind the sets (some piano and drum samples have special samples that are quite useful) and I want them to be included as well. Those are my only wishes.
I don't have time or motivation enough to run a web page of my own for them, so whenever I get mails about this it puts a little smile upon my face
Best regards!

He wants to help, and pretty much gives permission there. You can get permission yourself if you want, but he stated his wishes in this email.
I have the Malmsjo grand piano also. Good samples. His drum kits are superb also. I'll get all of them up soon. It's sad that his site had to stop, but if anyone wants to see the site, they can still use the Wayback Machine.
So there you have it! And soon, the rest of his samples will be available!
