Very cool 8) Thanks

You guys are cool Fretted Synth and Grymmjack. Nice! I'll be able to test 2.0 more this week. Seems very high class so far. I sometimes have the periodic glitches or dropouts some of the other guys seem to be talking about. I had them on 1.5 sometimes too. NB

Just briefly: I thought I would try this out this afternoon, see if it might be a sound I liked. To be honest, most freeware amps have left me a little "eh." I keep 'em around in case they might be of use for processing sound, but if I'm actually gonna play guitar it's usually GR2 or AT1 (yadda yadda dongle). Obviously not a tone snob - whatever it takes to get the job done and all - but I need some interaction with the tone that most (apparently) convolution-based softamps don't have.

Holy crap! This is really stunning. I can run it in S5.2 as a solo track, at 5.8ms latency (which is probably a real-world of 8ms or so), at a very respectable 25% CPU usage. This kicks up 5% or 10% when in synth mode, but, again, holy crap. Really, really nice sounding. And dead simple.

I'm definitely helping you all out with this one.

I just did some testing and the only thing close to what you mention I found is gate chatter? or with the gate off a bit of mash as the guitar tone goes into noise? if you find a paticular FX or amp\speaker causing this just let me know I will do what I can to fix it??

Fretted Synth

Will do for sure. I've been using the "Rock" setting for almost an hour (with the gate left to default "on") just goofin around and it hasn't done it yet. It's kinda puzzling. If I find a way to reproduce it, I'll try to capture it to a soundfile so you can better guess what's going on. There's nothing subtle about this when it happens, pretty jarring actually.

The next time it crops up I'll pay better attention to what settings I've got etc...

Thanks. I don't think it's going to stop me from using it either way

yea how cool is it :)

This "lawnmower" glitch - i think i know whats happening - i get it too - its when the cpu overloads or something like that....it never happens when you render a song, only if your playing in realtime and you have too many synths and effects loaded, and you try to use freeamp as well....

its like a second long "GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTT"

If im just playing with Freeamp thru a soundfont, it doesnt happen, but if i start opening up heaps of instances of freeamp and other effects, GGRRRRRTT!!!!

solution: get a better cpu - or be careful with how u use the one uve got ;)

Post

That might explain it...Next time I fire Sonar up I'll monitor cpu usage while I use it, purposely pouring the gravy on to see if I can reproduce it that way.

I can also see if running Kontakt2 as standalone will fix it...I've heard it's more cpu-friendly and stable that way.

This deserves a bump. Stuff like this shouldn't fade away at all.

Actually, I'm not sure that's it. I fired up Sonar, loaded the project I mentioned (that I had played for an hour without a hitch earlier), and it blasted me with the lawnmower the first few seconds, then went away again. This project only has one instance of Freeamp and one instance of Kontakt 2 with a small standard guitar instrument loaded and that's it. I max out at 27% cpu usage when I'm hammering away on the keys, and 19% when idle. Unless there are spikes that I'm not noticing.

But if it doesn't happen during renders...I can live with it I think. I'll see when I have a bloated project.

This thing looks and sounds great! :D (excellent skinning work grymm!!!...as usual. ;) )

Haven't really given it the full abuse-test, but I've been toying with it in Nuendo, latest version, on Windows XP, sp2, all the latest updates, Pentium P4 @ 2.8 gHz...and haven't had any problems so far. :tu:

Great work! :D

I can't wait to get this home, it looks so purdy!! Time to start dumping some of my multi-fx patches into freeamp2 and start sharing them around.

Wow! lots of views and posts for a day and a half :D Thanks all for the help.

As of now the bugs reported are as follows:

1. Reverb don't get small enough. (fixed)

2. Compressor meter problem with two instances running. (can't reproduce, let me know if you have this problem?

3. Crash with two insances, OK with one. (can't reproduce, let me know if you have this problem?

4. Lawnmower growl, or noise. (can't reproduce, let me know if you have this problem and please try to figure out if it is a specific amp\speaker\FX causing it?

Found a couple small things here all fixed  The compressor meter switch label was backwards  Up is gain reduction not output

Thanks all
