Hi was wondering if its possible to use a laptop to create effects ie. reverb, chorus etc.
For vocals on live performances. I am doing a live gig and am a newbie to all this, I wanted to avoid buying hardware. Thanks if anyone can enlighten me.

Yes it is possible. Reverb should be no problem at all, but with Chorus effects you have to be sure that the system does not add a delay to the signal.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image
My MusicCalc is served over https!!

Try using FreeAmp2, it is meant for guitar, but should work well with vocals ... ;-)

I use a laptop together with energyXT. The stereo input is divided in two mono channels. This way, both guitar and voice get their own stereo effects chains (you have to work in a modular environment to fully understand the incredible power of this setup   ) and are controlled by MIDI controllers (foot controller and keyboard) for signal re-routing and patch-change.

P.S. : You may find a couple of very valuable plug-ins and informations on asseca's site. :D

A very nice free multieffect that is also quite simple and not much load on your machine is Luxonix LX-1310.
