guitarzan; markers for the knobs. which knobs and what values -- this is something i can do probably with relative ease using illustrator and photoshop
glad everyone is loving it! it's a product of love! everyone gather round and pass the marijuana and sing songs of unity and love!
seriously it's sweet that it's so well recieved.
joe; if you can add a low cpu octaver, i'll die of happiness
the only thing missing is a tuner
(hint hint) -- of course there are 3rd party ones - including GVST, which is going to be skinnable so maybe i'll do a gvst gtune skin for freeamp
not enough time in the day!

Yo!
Where did this thing come from? Looks like I've not been paying enough attention to KvR lately.
I am downloading freeamp right now. Looks promising to say the least.
@ grymmjack: I like your tuner idea for freeamp.

Marking the Ratio controls on the compressors would be the most helpful. A few hashmarks on the Threshold (dB) controls would probably help, too. Something Like the markings on the Kjaerhus Classic Compressor would be fine. That's about it - everything else is just tweak and listen for me.grymmjack wrote:guitarzan; markers for the knobs. which knobs and what values -- this is something i can do probably with relative ease using illustrator and photoshop
Yeah - GTune is great, so a matching skin would be cool! Of course, a built in tuner would even be bettergrymmjack wrote:the only thing missing is a tuner(hint hint) -- of course there are 3rd party ones - including GVST, which is going to be skinnable so maybe i'll do a gvst gtune skin for freeamp

hrm. ok hash marks.. joe; what are the ranges and such? and would you mind this? it's a background modification only so the work is just update the background in SE -- is this hard to do?guitarzan wrote:Marking the Ratio controls on the compressors would be the most helpful. ...future edition, maybe?
also any other ticks/ranges anyone else thinks would be nice?

one question - do we start making presets for FreeAmp now with the beta?

wow ok. Overall this is an OUTSTANDING product. My new favourite plugin for clean and 'lead' sounds (thanks to the synth section). The crunch sounds are passable but still prefer tubebaby and JCM900, and there is a bit of work to be done before it can do all-out gain style (5150) sounds - at the moment I use dirthead w/ speaker impulses.
I still use external effects, but I appreciate the concept. The sound of the amp has gotten better and so have the presets, though they are mostly too 'wet' for my liking: I prefer to hear the raw sound and THEN add effects.
One more feature request that may or may not be useful to other users: A global gate switch. It bugs me that every preset I go though I have to manually turn off the gate. The chatter on dying notes bugs me no end. I'd rather deal with the noise.
But all in all, a very intuitive, appealing, nice sounding, FREE VST. WELL DONE!! When I get a chance I'll put together some presets to throw your way.

Boy, there really isn't much room for markers, is there. Maybe just having the ranges listed in the manual will be enough info. You really couldn't fit more than a low and high marker, could you? I don't want to talk you into cluttering up your nice clean GUI. Is it way too much work to do those cool flyout sliders with readout like when you grab a Synth1 control knob?grymmjack wrote:hrm. ok hash marks.. joe; what are the ranges and such? and would you mind this? it's a background modification only so the work is just update the background in SE -- is this hard to do?guitarzan wrote:Marking the Ratio controls on the compressors would be the most helpful. I ended up playing with this a lot last night.
The synth is a great idea, and I think it should be possible to get some really cool sounds from that.
I can't say I found presets to replace my favourite PODXT sounds, but I've worked quite a bit at tweaking my preferred tones in there, and no time with this, so I'll wait a few weeks before I say anything more about the sounds.
Pretty and intuitive gui, loads of possibilities, good auto-wah (much better than before, imo) and 10/10 for the synth!
Oh, and THANKS!

First of all A Big Thank You To F.S.A for making this great plugin. I have noticed some spiking of the cpu and even the audio output while changing patches with signal going to it. Other than that no problems here.
I am using:
XP Pro SP2
Tracktion 2
Firepod
AMD 64 3500+
2 gig ram
msi mainboard

Yeh! that was what I was thinking when I read the request, Not much room for the markings? I had them on the first version but my pedals were bigger. Will look into using a mouse-over or maybe even a dedicated readout for the controls? but that will not come till a later version.guitarzan wrote:Boy, there really isn't much room for markers, is there. Tuner question: I think the avalible free tuners are great, big thanks to the gents who have made some real nice tuners. So for now I will leave that to there plugins! but who knows what the future will bring
Thanks all, back to finishing up the third beta

+1 on the octaver. Especially octave-up. Get that Hendrix thang happenin'.....
Actually, if you'd like to think about doing an intelligent pitch shifter at some point in the next year or so, that would rock. I suspect that you have much of the technology in place already for that, with the pitch detection and low-latency response happening so well.
Incidentally, I did get the synth turned on from the instructions you guys gave me, though my early atttemps at creating synth patches suck so far. They make an okay sound, but it's not yet the sound I want. It's not about the plug, it's about my need to learn more and put more time into experimentation. That stuff isn't necessarily easy; props to the guy who made the patches that come with this!

One thing that might confuse people is the envelope generator! It is setup as an inverted envelope, so the "decay" is the time to rise to the value set as the mapped control.
Any questions just let me know
