Hi!

Can anyone please help. I want to use the MDA Talkbox effect in a track I am working on but for some reason the effect has some weird atrifacts. It plays fine the very first time I play the track, but every other time after that the Talkbox crackles and sounds more like a darlek. I have to restart logic to get it playing properly again (but again, only for the first time I play the track, the second I stop and start it.. the crackling appears). Can anyone out there please help? many thanks in advance. oh! and I am running Logic Pro 7.1 on a dual 2Ghz G5.

Sorry if this is obvious but do you have it set up correctly? You need to feed the left channel of talkbox with the carrier signal (vocal, drumbeat, etc) and the right channel with the modulator (synth, pad, etc).

You mention that it seems to work fine the first time so I assume you do, but I just figured I'd ask to be sure.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure how to use it... there are no instructions for it. teh ONLY way i can get it to "vocode" (so to speak) is to put it as an insert effect on a synth instrument , have the wet slider 100% and the dry 0%. the input swap set to on and the sidechain set to an audio channel with a vocal on it. I am assuming from what you say, i should be putting this on a bus channel and routing the vocal audio track and instrument track through it. i have tried this but nothing happens. the only thing i get is both sounds playing as normal when the dry signal is up. i really appreciate your help as i desperately need to use this effect. many thanks.

I'm not familiar with Logic. I use it in Renoise tracker where it must be put on a send track in order to work. I have my vocal sample on one track which I pan hard left, and a synth on another track which I pan hard right, then I route both of those tracks into my send track which has MDA:Talkbox on it. As far as I know that's the only way it works - with both signals panned hard left and hard right respectively. It does not work with side-chaining.

Thanks for your help mate! this is so odd.. mine is only working the other way and not at all as send effect (with panning)! not sure whats going on here!

anyone else had this problem?
