I would you understand that I like SE, I make a lot of publicity in the french forums, I build my filter because the SE filter is old and its quality is too generic.
That is the reasons why I build my modules in C++.
SE it's the liberty to create a vsti with or not its SDK.

That's because some of them are morons. Though it's true many plugins sound the same from SE, they are usually beginners with SE. There are only a few devs who really make SE proud, and for me your 8x8... and 6x6... series falls into that category, along with EFM, Evol, some Killer Synths, Boris K., E-Phonic... I'm getting some very nice pads from your 8x8 for example, and I really love the uncharecteristically heavy, dense sound from KXOmni600.kx77free wrote:Hi,

I havn't the SE sound, I have my sound because this plug use my SEM modules write in C++.
All kvr user think that the SE plugins have the same sound, I don't think that.

The only thing that I dare ask for is GUI change for the KXOmni600. It's a pretty big synth and the layout is a little confusing, although I honestly haven't devoted as much time to it as I would like. All the same, it is a true sound designers instrument and a more intuitive face on it would really help. I'm not a GUI nut, but this is one synth (along with Voyager
I think it could be really great for FX, but especially pads as well. As far as complication in synths goes, this one is not as daunting as say Crystal (which is made SO MUCH SIMPLER only by the way it's laid out),but the sound can be quite impressive. I can't help but feel that a more navigatable GUI would make this synths capabilities even more apparent.
A *PERFECT* example of this is Boris K.'s INTRO. Aside from the variety of wavefroms available, it's still a very large SE synth as well. But the layout means that you can understand all it's functions completely in much less than an hour without hints or a manual despite is intricate modulation matrices and envelopes. I'm not even suggesting something that has to be pretty... Thanks all the same!!!

Hi Debutante,
I know that you follow my production since the beginning (one year ago). Concerning the GUI of my instruments, it is too simple for the complex structures of the 8x8cc serie, kxomni..., and I will be able to better do but the little of time I have I prefer used to solve problems of sound quality and also a modern GUI could use a lot of CPU use. If I change the Kxomni GUI, its soundbank will not be compatible any more with the old versions .But I think about for my next plugins.
PS I am not sure to have understand the whole of your post.
I am a beguinner,"débutant", with English or American language.

...no big deal at all... First I'm glad you spend more time on the sound instead of cosmetics. I wouldn't even bother to ask about the GUI if there was a complete manual explaining all the different parts.
To sum up what I was saying:
A GUI that is easier to understand would make the unique capabilities of this synth stand out. At this time, the real strength of the synth remains hidden because it's difficult to see how all the pieces work together. I know there are hints, but without a manual, it's tricky to find out how certain controls will affect the final sound. This is why many people who want to try it may turn away from it quickly.
I'm going to spend alot more time devoted *entirely* to this synth this week and see what my specific problems are. I'm sure some things will only need take a little practice to understand, but some parts of the synth have often left me clueless. I'll find out what these problems are definitively, and get back to you with any questions or suggestions I may have... just a little input. Don't let it drive you crazy
. i'm grateful for the time and effort that goes into something like this!

hi,
I'm not sure that the gui is a really a problem, I think the kxomni structure is complex but if you beguin with the "init" sound(they are in the tilte before the classified bank) and if you work step by step you should understand.

...that's why I want to spend alot more real time with it. If I still can't figure somethin out I'll ask. But you're right; it is a pretty complex synth, and I really want to learn it well because it makes you WORK for your sound.

WOW the demo is great!
And btw: I use many SE product and never felt they sound all same. For me it's just great having so many synth's for free so I can try out which fit's best to my style.

This sounds really good! And the GUI is cleaned up a bit from the ones you were using. Much easier on the eyes. Keep up the good work.

OK...here's something I haven't clearly understood involving the KXMod Page:
I'm not sure how to control the Cycling. I've seen it follow 1-6, and sometimes it does only 2,4,6 and right now, light#2 stays on all the time... how can I control the Cycling on the KXmod page?
I take it that acticvating "Unison" makes the synth mono? I can't seem to play chords once unison is activated.
Otherwise i'm really happy to have gotten through OK. There's alot of cross-modulation in this synth... lots of envelopes and LFO's... CHEERS!!!!

Hi,
The led in poly mode indicate the last note played.
The cycle mode is like the CS Yamaha trigger system, I this vintage time, to avoid to use only one mono synthesizer card (there is 6 mono synthesizers in a classical 6 voices poly synthesizer),at each note played the gate trigger start the next mono card etc...
My first beta version (1.0), do you remmenber, used several mono synthesizers to reproduce the polyphony, since the 1.22 version I use one classical SE polyphonic synthe and you can listen the kxmod detune only if you play the note because the kxmod value is send when the note is played.
In the unison mode the kxmod detune affect directly the oscillators and the filters.
In a classical synthesizer the unison is always in mono mode !
The unison which use only several oscillators is not really a good unison (no punch as a lot SE synths which use this mode), the rich sound unison is produce with the oscillators, the vcf and the vca added in the same time.
Note : I limited the unison to 3 voices.

Thanks for the reply Xavier. I wasn't aware of the classical synth mono unison thing... and I have also finally resolved the cycling. I realise that the cycle simply maintains its position no matter what the pattern played is.
My trouble was that I had a pattern of single notes and chords. I thought that if a SINLGE not plays, followed by two notes triggered at the same time, then the cycling should go 1-2. As it happens, the cycling goes 1-3. Now I undertand why. I feel kind of stupid having asked

...and as such I am very happy to report that my problematic posts for you are now at an end
I finally know the synth's workings enough to begin approaching it with good intent. It's my biggest Phase Distortion synth and I plan to keep it. Sorry for the silly confusion, and thanks again for your support!!!

Hi,
good news for the kxomni users, I include in the Kxomni-U3.zip file the NFX version.
I build the NFX version for the users who use external Fx or prefer to use other Fx that ones of the kxomni.
example, with 4 kxomni use in same time, you win 10% cpu use on a P4 3ghz !
Also the program change cpu use is better.
version 2.02:
the offset of the lfo2 is usable simultaneously with the synchro.
