Just kidding. Still couldn't nail it perfectly, but here's what I really came up with:

Shot 1 (with minor built in Nuendo track eq, pushing around 936hz and 10khz)

Shot 2 Just FreeAmp2beta3, no EQ here)

Here's the FXP Figure maybe you can tweak it more to your liking.

That was fun. :) Good luck to the rest of you! 8)
nah, its not perfect at all, but you know what, there is this quality to freeamp that is REALLY nice. I could definetly picture it in the context of certain music. However, there is something that flubs about with the palm muted parts. and it still could be a bit more "open" sounding. Also, you dont hear that much gain -- im sure if the gain were turned up the mud would increase alot...

But wow, this is the best yet, thanks for trying.
I am going to post up some other tones with wet/dry versions when i get a chance.
Thanx Jason. :D

I've definitely heard what you're talking about after really pushing it to try and match your example. I don't know if I'd classify it as muddy...but I definitely hear it...In comparisson to your clip, there seems to be a bit of a 'lag' (sorry, best word I could think of) in the distortion of FreeAmp2, whereas the one in your clip seems a bit tighter. Just an obvservation.

Hope someone has better luck. :)

Using SPAN i found a large dip at about 1.3 Khz or 2.5 Khz, depending on preset, that methinks is contributing to the wah sound.

I am wondering if that is also contributing to the muddy sound that Jason is hearing. That is, of course, in the frequency range that can create some brightness and presense to the sound. So maybe whatever is causing that can be changed and maybe the sound that Jason wants will be easier? Taking those frequencies out DOES make the sound muddy.

I'm at work, but I wonder if anyone creates a sound and boosts those frequencies, does it make a difference?

Anyone able to try?

I gave that a shot when I was making the tones for this...with the Nuendo Track EQ....it definitely brings a certain brightness to it...but the problem (if one considers it a problem that is) is that the distortion seems to lag a bit. I can't really describe it better...but JBMs PodXT example seems to have tighter distortion...it seems to wrap around each note better.

So maybe just replacing the distortion module for the plug?

Without giving up any SE secrets he's used, I wonder if FrettedSynth could give us an idea of what is involved, so maybe somebody who knows can help find better filters or something?

This is something I'm trying to find myself, so it would also help me. But then again, I don't know what he used for this.

Man that 1.3k dip is deep! about 27db! Doubling up on the eq...

Ok..it has brightened up the sound but now it sounds to plastic. The eq is Electri-Q demo so it isn't the eq but that IS a lot of boosting...

The wah character is still there even with all pedals off.

"Wrap around each note better" yea,i think i know what you mean. When in high gain and bending one note of a doublestop FA almost sounds synthlike, which i guess is the aliasing.

I think we are finally getting down to something. There has got to be a reason why it's happening. Does the dip happen with different cabinets and amps? Or have you tested it.

I wish I was at home so I could just find out myself. Sorry.

glad people are looking into it, asking questions and discovering instead of insulting and insinuating.

freeamp is a great product! Thanks be to the maker :D

but it just sounds weird to me ;)

Hehe, was just testing and found:

The dips are from the cabinets. 1.3k for the closed back and 2.5k for the open back, no matter what color or speaker configuration.
