grymmjack wrote: not really strange, no, as i've heard lots of people having better luck in the recent sonars with the ASIO driver. tbh i think there is something goofy with my card, but also to be fair NOW i do have more than the normal services going and run a server simultaneous, but back then when i was using it, it was just systray and explorer as advised ;)

yes please see if you can figure this out. does it only happen with certain effects on? have you a preset that you can share where this happens consistently and we could load and test it for ourselves? power in numbers..
You know, I just found a thread in the Sonar forums from way back in which someone stated that he had a computer that should easily handle his projects but was constantly experiencing audio problems. He said he learned (in yet another forum) that alot of video-cards with hardware 3d accellertation cause problems, and that disabling all but basic accelleration on said cards can fix alot of problems. Sounds kinda bogus, but I'm ready to try just about anything.

Anyways, he said it fixed all his problems, so I'll play with it today and see if there's anything to it. Who knows...my video card is a pile of crap (ATI 9250...I actually replaced a nice card with it because I wanted to get rid of the fan on the nice one), but maybe it is locking out resources or something. My video card shares an irq with the USB bus (into which two midi controllers are plugged), and though the microsoft insists it poses no problems, I've read claims to the contrary. We'll see. I'd better eliminate my system as a cause before anyone puts any work into this.

Oh, and the preset I get it most reliably on is the "Rock" preset. I did notice a cpu spike during a buzzing episode, but it didn't hit the roof or anything...it seemed to "spike" to about 60% and back down to around 30%.

I'll keep you posted.

Post

OldGeezer, are you sure there are no rogue "programs" or "services" causing occasional high CPU usage ... ??

(examples: Firewalls, Anti-Virus, hidden internet services, etc...)

asseca; is the manual out?

The manual is finished, waiting for Joe's approval ...

Also there is a problem with VST-IDs:
v1.5 and v2.0 share the same VST-ID: "FAse" :(

I think Joe wants to publish FreeAmp FINAL, the manual and the WIKI at the same time, should happen somewhere between now and Monday ...

its just my opinion, and i guarantee if you took some of the toneheads from kvr and brought them in here they would have similar things to say about it.
B*llshit little boy.

Your opinion of what "good" tone is shared by a VERY small minority of KVR members as this thread that you've pissed all over proves conclusively. You have a right to your one dimensional opinion of what good guitar tone is but if you think you'll find much support for that opinion here you're sadly mistaken. Obviously you need to save your pennies and buy a triple recto...you'll never be happy with any ampsim hard or soft so why continue to torment yourself (or us for that matter!! ), any longer. :D

Cheers......CL
funny, i am happy with podxt, and guitar rig 2. Its all i use actually. I was simply looking to add another tool to my arsenal... and something to suggest for others to use that dont have the cash to buy anything else. Your berating of me and extreme comments only prove yours is an emotional and illogical argument, and seriously not worth the webspace and bandwidth it is using.

just check the other thread --- no one so far can get the open, tight sound i am talking about. And totc admits he can hear what im hearing in the sound.

so perhaps you should just let go, my friend. Im not into senseless arguments.

My apologies, I stand corrected. It was late, I had a god awful
day and I did'nt properly read all your comments. I should'nt
have assumed you were another one of these guys:
Software has NEVER ACHIEVED Decent Guitar Distortion. Nope.
Once again....I'm very sorry :(

Cheers.....CL
its okay man, dont worry about it.

I loathe that thread btw, i think its total garbage. I keep wanting to post in it and be like "YOURE ALL F$%KING IDIOTS"!

but i dont like to curse, and i dont like to bother with ignorant ppl :D

on to the regularly scheduled beta testing thread ;)

I grew up in Elizabeth....plenty of "pahk da fuckin cah" there. :P

Last time I was in New Brunswick, a friend and I ended up in this wierd house....everybody was coked out of their minds (not us, the residents)...and quite a few people were in strange pron-star garb....lots of strobe lights in that house too.....needless to say, we didn't stay too long.

Well, when people decide to say stuff in response to me, I respond back. Just come out and say what youre talking about.

I am not ashamed.

I wasnt into that senseless, overly emotional argument either, it was pathetic, but i kept replying to the insults and words against me.

:hihi: Ok! I'm getting dizzy with three threads but will try to keep up :) Might have to drink a few more corona's to balance things out :hihi:

First Thanks for contributing presets, love to check out other peoples stuff :)

Second The ID for FreeAmp2 is the same as v1.1 not v1.5 so I think we should be safe? let me know if it causes problems?

Third I read in one of the other threads about a dip in the 1.3-2kh range will look into the cause and try to correct, possable this is the cause of some peoples grief? doubt it but who knows stranger things have happened :)

Forth if asseca has all the files ready? tonight or tomorrow will be the release of the full package with a manual (big thanks to asseca as he did 99.9% of the manual, I just more or less checked it) :D

Wow, you really are a annoying, man. You berate a free gift becuase it doesn't do what you want, then you get everybody jumping through hoops to turn the damn knobs on the thing for you, then you berate them, too. Then you just hang on and drive it into the ground like you're trying to stomp it out of existence.

You say you like the POD, so your all set. This fine sim just doesn't suit you, so could you please let it go? I mean, I paid $600 for the original POD Pro when it came out and I think it blows compared to FreeAmp and SimulAnalog but I didn't get on a Line 6 fan site and make it my purpose in life to make their lives miserable.
and i thought you muted me. how cute :P

first off, that thing you quoted had nothing to do with this thread. the poster before was implying something about another thread i was involved in. So i suggest you know what you talk about before you flame.

Actually, I have let it go. But some people insist they can help me get the tone i want with it. Which is nice cause i really like certain aspects of freeamps tone. I have played with the knobs quite alot. I would like proof on how i berate anyone. The only person i see berated here is me, for having an opinion.

The original pod pro blows in general.

your post really doesnt make any sense. I guess we're in some sort of nazi state of software when you can't criticize a vst in an inquiring way, or ask questions for how to get a decent sound.

I really think you should just take your meds and calm down mate.

Yo, can you guys take it to IM?

And anyone else for that matter. I don't like to get into it but this is rediculous now.
