You might check to see if there's a BIOS update for your video card.
(These are often not easy to find - use google)

I noticed a similar issue with FX5200 cards (under certain conditions)... and a BIOS update
(for the video card - not motherboard) eliminated the problem

FWIW, I have always heard that "half down wah" thing. I called it "listening to your amp through a toilet paper tube" and I thought it was supposed to be mic emulation (that's what mic emulation always sounds like to me - or monitoring thru a mic for that matter)and I brought up the possibilty of bypassing it in the FreeAmpSE1.5 thread but FrettedSynth said ther really was no mic emulation and that the mic icon was really some kind of tone control. It can be reduced by placing the mic to the far right extreme and playing with all the tone setting, but I begrudgingly agree that if it is not mic emulation, then there is some kind of phase problem.

Sorry again, Jason. You just happen to be the kind of person who can really piss me off - nothing personal - you just push all the buttons without knowing. Maybe it's the three names... ;)

I know. I've never seen such drama-queening in a forum. This guy's turning it into own private soap-opera. "As the stomach turns". Hey JBM, either you're a troll, or you've got issues. Get the #$%^ over it!!!

asseca: Yeah, I'm sure there's no rogue progs running. I disable/uninstall about 75% of the windows services before I even activate XP after a clean install. Got adaware and spybot and they've never found anything but usage tracks. I may be getting a fee laptop in a few weeks, in which case even all the networking drivers/services are getting nuked on the music machine. It's gonna be bare-bones XP. Thanks.

BTW...I musta been playing for 3 hours without a hitch. Maybe just a coincidence...maybe not.

This Attack/Decay Envelope Generator can be routed to 1 of 5 destinations. Note: This is an inverted envelope! Meaning that "Decay" in the envelope's time to rise.
here is a stupid question -- why is the guitsyn envelope inverted? no WONDER i couldn't figure it out!

asseca wrote:Also there is a problem with VST-IDs: v1.5 and v2.0 share the same VST-ID: "FAse"
FrettedSynth wrote:Second The ID for FreeAmp2 is the same as v1.1 not v1.5 so I think we should be safe? let me know if it causes problems?
...oops, got confused with v1.1 and v1.5 ...

So it should be OK to leave the VST-ID at "FAse" ... :D

:hihi: Personal preferance :hihi: The synth was made in the time you did the graphics (2-3 weeks) :) When done my head was spinning with ideas of things that could be done with a gate that IMHO tracks that well :) That is why I have said many times "the synth will grow" Eventually the synth will have two EG's, a step sequenced modulator, a noise oscillator that can operate as a fixed pitch for poly stuff and will also be able to track pitch when used as a mono synth, an octaver will come in eventually, I have about twelve filters I want to add that will use a dropdown like the EQ to switch between them (only the active filter will use CPU) :D and that is just off the top of my head have a list somewhere :hihi:

FS, I'm really wild for your audio triggered synths. Not counting FreeAmp 2 there's what, 4 of them? I wonder, if your direction is to integrate FreeAmp and the synths might you want to integrate all the plugs into some kind of future FreeAmp? They're all really good and useful, I'd like to see them all get future development. They're somewhat unique, keep developing the whole family please! Though I don't see how you do it all already..

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I haven't been able to get FreeAmp to work. I feel stupid for admitting this but I really want to try this out. I see a lot of potential in this plug for myself.

Here goes:

I have my guitar plugged into line 1 on my mixer (Allen Heath wz3 16:2), then the direct out going into a line in on my sound card (Delta 1010). In Cubase SX2 I have my bus set up for a mono line in. I brought FreeAmp in on my audio channel. I have the intereface open, I hit the synth setup button. I tried the settings that FrettedSynth suggested on page one of this thread. I get no sound from FreeAmp in live time though. I can hear my guitar through my monitors just fine but no FreeAmp. When I record my guitar I get no live effect from FreeAmp.

I can however use FreeAmp on playback or with sound file. The only problem is that I can't tell how it's going to sound while playing clean and then going back and listening to it with distortion after the fact.

I hope I make sense.

So basically, FreeAmp works only if I have a sound file already there or already recorded while playing back. But it doesn't work live while I'm trying to record.

EDIT: I guess I'm having trouble with the audio triggering the synth.

Help please.

Not sure how to setup cubase SX2 for direct through, but for the direct guitar you are hearing you must open the m-audio control panel and turn down the HW input of the channel you have the guitar plugged into, Hope that gets you somewhere?

Did you try toggling that dropdown input menu just above the cabinet?

I don't get a live signal until i switch that from 'guitar' to 'stereo' for some reason.
