Theres a lot of speculation over at ALDJ.

Thanks for the link Subz.

I must say i am EXTREMELY disappointed with this update. They are focusing on video imports when the audio aspect including workflow needs improvement IMO.
The only feature i am excited about is multiple params to CC and/or QWERTY keys each WITH THEIR OWN RANGE SETTING....nice.

Other than that....i will not be upgrading.
GOOD! I can give the moolah to Jorgen instead.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In-place sample "hot-swapping" for audio clips, Simpler, Impulse and Sampler (works just like hot-swapping device presets).
Holy SHit!!!! This alone is worth the upgrade...i take it back...... :hail:

I requested this and was hoping it would be available!

WOO HOO!!!!!

Can u tell i'm excited? :D

what does a slicer do?

It allows you to chop pieces of coloured sugar paper into all different shapes and sizes, which in turn makes it much easier to display childrens' work in a visually appealing way ready for parent's evenings.

does Live6's sampler import rex2 files I wonder, or perform autoslicing?
It doesn't mention it on the site.
One would hope it does, as it seems to be a fairly standard sampler feature nowadays.

so when someone says a slicer, do they mean an autoslicer?

auto and manual, this type of slicing isn't for glitch efx or gating, its for audio editing, and for triggering the individual slices how you'd see fit, in it's basic application you might take a drum loop and slice it up so that you could play your own drum beat with those slices but alot of other folks its a vital tool that goes far beyond that, , do a search on this forum for LiveSlice, Guru, and AmG one and take a look at what they can do.

In Live you can take a drum loop and quickly grab different parts and drag them into simpler then play any beat you want. Seems rather easy to me, but I have not used those programs you mention.

Post

with slicers you can do it with out opening up another instrument and dragging anything anywhere, have you used dr rex in reason, thats a slicer too of sorts.

Post

A logical progression for live would be warping audio, say a drum beat & then drag & dropping the warped loop into the new sampler (which supports drag n drop I believe) for auto keymapping.
That would be useful.

Post

i'd settle for that if i had to, no need to create a instrument just for slicing in Live if the new sampler could do it, but it can't as far as i know. nobody creates a sampler these days that doesn't slice,

Post

I would be very suprised if the new sampler can't perform the task - it just seems so obvious, perfect integration with live (apparently) & drag & drop support, the next logical step seems imo to be that.
It'd be a bit of an oversight if it isn't included.
