Hey guys,

I'm looking for an EQ which I could use as a track insert with Ableton Live.

My setup is like this:
individual channels go straight into four sends (no master output). I control where each channel goes by using the send level knobs.
The channels almost always just contain whole complete tracks. This setup lets me quickly control any and all tracks with a set of controls for only those four sends (= ease of use).
I usually play a track going through one of the sends and then the next track goes through the next send.

In the sends, right now, I use Ableton's EQ Three which is a tri-band EQ. You can set the crossover frequencies (low/mid and mid/high) and you can "kill" each of the bands with a keypress. The mids are a shelf, not a bandpass filter. This means if you turn down all three ranges, there's almost total silence.

However, the EQ Three sounds awful. It adds very big resonance even when set to flat, and you can hear when I change the crossover frequencies. It sounds harsh and cheap. It also makes pretty big overs because of the resonance, and they're seemingly random, so if you over on master output you don't know which of the sends did that :(

I tried several EQs:
voxengo gliss eq - too complicated
URS plugins - most of them too complicated. However, the BLT EQ is almost there - it's small and simple. BUT it lacks a mids corrector! Only low/high!
The S series EQ is great. However the mids are pass-band filters and not shelves, which is pretty bad imo :( However, other than that, it's totally GREAT. Spot on. Maybe I'll even end up using that.
To top off, the URS plugins EQs are totally transparent. They have a great transparent sound which doesn't break songs...

I can't really think of any other EQs which would be simple enough to use on stage and would sound good...
Any hints, anyone?

thanks for reading this far guys and gals! cheers!

so it must be only payware? if not.. how about voxengo free nad kjaerhus?

I'm guessing by "kjaerhus" you're saying GEQ-7? That's too complicated... too many bands. Even the S series doesn't really need two mid bands for me...
Which voxengo plugins do you have in mind?
