I have been researching software for sample conversion. I already own Extreme Sample Converter - which is excellent, I must say. No help or manuals, but most things so far are easy to figure out.
I looked at Awave, Chickensys Translator and a few others. Then I saw CDeXtract software.
Hmmmm
Strange?
Weird?
Ya know, CDeXtract looks very very VERY VERY similar to Extreme Sample Converter!!!!
I wonder if one copied the other? Did they work together and have a falling out?
Take a look at both - the similarities are not just obvious, someone ripped someone else off!

CDXtract was out long before ESC. Draw your own conclusions.

Chicken Sys was the first - I don't think either worked with each other, its was only when exsc first appeared that Chicken sys became aware of them due to the Trademark issues etc. Of course that's all we know based on what was written into the forums by both some time ago.Karmacomposer wrote:I was not sure which came first (chicken and the egg anomaly)

The GUI on Awave is not the same as either of the two apps in question abovebro. miles wrote:Actually Awave was first.

Spe3d is absolutely right the GUI is not the same at all. I just meant the basic concept of sample format conversion predates CDX, EXSC, and ChickenSys. AFAIK Awave was the first product of this type.

Bu that's not the point.
The point is CDExtract and ESC look eriely similar to one another and are sold by two different companies.
Personally, I could care less and this was more of my dark humor in action, but one cannot ignore the similarities.

I love Behringer despite the look alike to other low end and medium grade equipment. Doube standard, I know, but I think software is simply easier to change and create (being a programmer myself) and hardware goes through factories that have to be tooled and re-tooled (except for those things created in Wozniak's garage).
