This one (http://www.savioursofsoul.de/Christian/VST/dsp_vst.zip) should get rid of the GFX problem, but there still is a problem while closing, which I can't figure out (works perfectly within the debugger, as always...)

Effectchainer hangs up its initial scan on Boxsounds' Voctopus. Scan GUI stays there for hours but it's crashed. Tried twice for confirmation. Handles Boxsounds' Dragon ok.

hi all,
back on work
@daverich
will check out the producibility of this suggestion
@djsubject
pdc meaning the initial delay of vst plugs is not transmitted to the host so far.
@asseca
build the next installer with your request
@djsubject
mono version will work as far as the host calls "setSpeakerArrangement" or has the "isInputConnected" function implemented correctly
@TotcProductions
consider to disable the initial scan and add a "Load Plug" function in next build.
i also tested "EffectChainer" in Minihost and had no crash (i have many too
. would be helpful if you could figure out which plug the crash caused.
@#The fREaK!
@Christian Budde
will check out your problems with "Christian Budde's VST host plugin for Winamp" and "AdaptX 3.5" today.
thx for your suggestions for GUI improvement. think they make sense and we will implement them (don't know why didn't recognize them by myself so far
)
@plastique
think it would not be so difficult to implement this but i don't see an advantage to the existing "Save Chain" functon?
@Newbie Brad
tried scan with Boxsounds Voctopus (normal and mini) on my machine (hosted in wavelab5 and vsthost) and had no problems or crashes. will test it on a naked test machine later.

I haven't tried it yet, but what would be wonderful is if it is possible to copy/paste plugins that are not in the chainer into the chainer.
This way, you could take every plugin of a track in a project you started without the chainer, and copy the same chain in another track, or... in another host !
(Phrazor and ENergyXT are fine for that, but can do many other things, so a simple but very effective chainer would be welcomed !).
... and, just curious : as we're talking about VST : how is Acoustica's vst version development going ?

interesting thought.daverich wrote:the thing that would make this VERY interesting is if it allows you to run the plugs in the chainer at higher samplerates than the project the chainer is inserted in.
IMHO it's only plugs that need to run at high rates, the audio doesn't really benefit that much from 96khz and above.
Kind regards

The WinAmp Host Plugin has this already build-in. With 'enhance' the plugin is feeded with oversampled data. Unfortunately not all plugins supports changing the samplerate at runtime. Furthermore you may get coloration from the oversampling filters...Jason Brian Merrill wrote:interesting thought.daverich wrote:the thing that would make this VERY interesting is if it allows you to run the plugs in the chainer at higher samplerates than the project the chainer is inserted in.

@Christian Budde
tested the new version of christians winamp plug and it seems to work fine with "EffectChainer". could't identify a problem while closing as well.
adaptx: stangely the effectchainer-window is opened to big. have to verify the reason for this, but as the rest works, it is not priority.
concerning the controls (mute, solo, editor): they have a bit of a shadow on the bottom and on the right and the mouse respond on it too

I renamed Voctopus.dlk, thus disabling it and Acon chainer scans and works fine after that. But I'd like my Voctopus back! Another nice thing your chainer makes easy is using Cockos' Jususonic multifx environment in VST hosts. What a fun free plug.

Some host (most ? (*)) save the plugin state (with the used preset) when saving a project.
So basically one step less is needed when saving/loading a project if your plugin could implement
the basic VST preset system (just one "program" would be needed, but can be more as well).
Apart from this it's the same as loading/saving the chain manually per "chain preset", the difference is in the workflow.
(*) Cubase, eXT, Bidule are the ones I know that do, I don't use any others (but this chainer may as well surely ?

Hi Acon,
I had another play with it, in my Nuendo set up...no problems at all to report there!
I have to submit a umble request though...would it be possible to make it load as an instrument...I'd pay money for this if it would enable me to use DXIs properly in Neundo.
Peace

@plastique
hm yes that's a founded objection. didn't thought of it in that way. added to revision list
@sinkmusic
will check out the feasibility of this suggestion
ps: acoustica's vst support dev is almost finished but as there are a lots of other features to implement as well the release of the new version will be in october

"Plug-in Delay Compensation______ PDC"
if you load a plug-in inside EffectChainer that reports a 243 sample delay & another plug-in that reports a 123 sample delay the EffectChainer should report a 366 sample delay,
maybe a bit much to ask for such a handy free app
thanks
