Top right of the screen, under instruments, go look for Shortcircuit - there's a free 2 note version and then look through http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37272
for some free sound/soundfont links.

Indeed, a sampler is a good way for "realistic" sounds of the kind you want. If you buy Computermusic, you'd get one with the magazin, DS404, and shortcircuit (incl. a free version) was already mentioned, then many hosts have an inbuilt-sampler, maybe your host too.

While you're about to look at the "instruments" here, you could demo a synth from ConcreteFX, it is called "Ethereal" and you can make nice (sometimes strange, though) atmospheric sounds, and especially combines the sound of rain with other sounds :) .
If you search for soundfonts and other sample-types with all the stuff you need, also have a look at "sfz", which is a great and free soundfont-player and more. I use to go outside and record rain, thunder, even church-bells with a minidisc-recorder, and play them after some mangling in a sampler, or load the sounds into synths if that's possible. Much fun! But too much "wind"-noise in my recordings  . On the other hand, this way you get stuff that is great, and made by yourself :-).
Cheers! Nice idea to make music with rain, bells, wind...

Or Kontakt, VSampler, sfz, Wusikstation, SampleTank, etc.

If you don't know what a sampler is, you better first get some background about the different types of plugins etc.

Unless you don't care at all about the quality of the sounds or the samples.

well i am somewhat new to makingmusic.. so i may need some education..

i used cubase sl3..i have plenty of vsts programs like eastwest gold and choir etc..

I like the interface of Kontakt and the ease of sorting through the library ...so i was looking fro something like that . .

so i could get a smapler as ya suggest and load it with sounds?

is there anything sold ready to go instead? or would i have to make shift it?

thanks!
