This question is specifically for Audition and Reason, but I would assume the answer would be universal (host wise)...
When you are rendering an audio file in Audition (or host of choice), is the sample and biot rate dependant on your soundcard?
It seems like it is not, that it is host specific, but I'm not sure. The reason I'm thinking this is that when rendering, it gives sample rates for options that I know one of my sound cards I was using at the time doesn't support. So I'm thinking it is host related and bypasses the whole audio card (again this is for rendering, not playback, etc.)
So, my point, is that the hosts rendering process is completely independent of the soundcard; correct? meaning I could feasibly render at 192KHz even if my soundcard only supported yup to 96KHz.
Right?
PS- One a side note, I think Audition 2 is the best audio host. The number of high end features, much less the nice layout and work flow options is amazing. I hated 1.5 so I had my doubts (serious doubts about 2.0) but am now a convert.
Unless we switch over to Samplitude 9.0 (I used 7 and left it because of lack of Rewire and crappy midi support, by 8.0 was onto something else).

Rendering options should be completely independant from your soundcard's abilities. You can even render without having a soundcard installed (provided the program is willing to start)
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
