I agree. Well, no: I use it at 100% for gigantic tail fx. But it's definitely a Send-effect.

Thank you for clearing that up bduffy, i'm the one who repeated the dark ages name so i believe he was talking to me. I did ask williamk if he had used any other verbs but this is a fair question aimed at getting understanding (wich is what the name of this thread is all about). But if my other post was read wich clearly states all of us musicians are going to have different plugins in our arsenals (because we all are suppose to have different taste) and just because i personally don't see beauty in AAR does'nt mean it is'nt there. I wrote a whole post on keeping a open mind and not eliminating the possibility that a track may call for aar tho i don't care for it. I don't think anyone has tried to bring the conversation to a arguement or made it a i'm right your wrong thread, just discussing opinions and trying to get understanding.

I've used the demo of AAR. Yup, it's a reverb. Still prefer Dreamverb and StereoRoom 2016.

AAR was just too much of a good thing. I want to listen to how good my instrument sounds, not how good the reverb is (IE, it should be transparent.)

I'm surprised dreamverb does'nt get alot of attention. It's one of my favorites too. Very unique sounding verb and very rich and beautiful to me.

Well, Dreamverb doesn't get much attention because most of us smegs don't own a UAD-1. I had to look it up.

I'm usually a "thats no excuse" kind of guy, but i guess not owning the ua card is a good reason

I do believe tho if a person listens to demo clips of dreamverb it can influence to buy the card, for dreamverb is one of the main reasons i bought the uad-1 card, wich i know is strange to some because uad is more popular for compressors.

hey man, all the kick-ass plugins are the reason to buy it, verb or no verb!

Just keep in mind UAD-1 owners get "UAD-itis" and forget that not everyone else has them. And I can't blame you.

I've got Dreamverb since it came out (got it for free, wouldn#t have bought it). I used it only once in a project - don't like the sound at all. To me it's artificial sounding and the reverb stands apart from the dry signal - no glueing. Plus the interface is complicated.
I didn't like the Artsacoustics reverb as well - it was a step up, but nowhere near my Lexicon units. However, in a thread here a few months ago it could be shown that it can do some great things and sound very close to a Lexicon 224 in certain situations. It can do things my 300s can't do. Check out the thread and the examples - if you need mostly super-large very wide and modulated sounding halls this reverb could be it. When it comes to smaller rooms and drum applictions it doesn't do it for me though.

After a very long time with the Demo i'm tempted to finally buy it. I didn't like it much when it was released but stumled across it several times for various sound design tasks. It always introduced me something unexpected i didn't get from other reverbs.

It's a very good effect to shape sounds rather than just occupying space. Granted, there are other verbs that do similar or better jobs in standard situations but there's much on top in the AAR unit.

Btw, i can't remember ever using Dreamverb in a project and i tried pretty often. I usually end up with Reaktor's Space Master 2 which i consider being the best software reverb i tried so far. I'm missing something elementary from Dreamverb, it sounds too dead to me.

CSR is the best by faaaar to me.My top two favorites is CSR and wizooverb 2. CSR has the high end smoothness and all around great character, wizooverb 2 has transparency and realism, its degree of transparency and naturalness is beyond that of all native verbs i've heard (algo's and convo's).After these two i like dreamverb/gigapulse/masterverb 5,i think dreamverb is more of a vocal reverb then drums.It is very different and much like arts acoustics either you love it or hate it.

What's the deal with the Arts Acoustics Reverb?
