They are absolutely DRENCHED in reverb.. a lot of them sound totally unusable until you edit them up for yourself.
I'm not much of a preset fiend, because a lot of the time I don't work with preset material. But when you just want a quick sound to write some riffs, you don't want 10 seconds of reverb on everything.
They blow. Plain and simple.

Well Ill say it, Shut the f**k up drewy, and make some of your own presets and problem solved. YOu have already said you dont use em much, so why would you bitch? Seems damn pointless to me. These are the threads that are complete and total waste of time. If this goes on longer than a page, its a sad state of the universe. ANd i havent helped.. BUt thanks for this, since it just made me wake up, I have much better things to do now.

Did you read my post at all? I said that when I want to just "compose" I don't really need *the* sound that will eventually become the fixed sound of that track. I just need something that sounds vaguely like what I would want - metal distortion for example.Killvehicle wrote:Well Ill say it, Shut the f**k up drewy, and make some of your own presets and problem solved. But if you scroll through the AT2 presets too many of them are just endless echoes and toss acoustical treatments.
Of course it seems damn pointless to you because you didn't read what I wrote properly.

Well, many of the presets are too effect-laden for my liking too, this is also the case with many hardware multi fx units though.
Also I find it relatively quick and easy to get rid of the fx that annoy me, so it's no big deal for me.
If you think about it, it is pretty damn impossible to make presets that work well with all kinds of guitars, pickups D.I.s/preamps anyway, so inevitably you'll have to make some 'bread and butter' presets for yourself.

True enough. Just does my head in a bit, is all. Yesterday I was trying to come up with some clean melodies, and everything just sounded terrible when going through the clean presets.

wow, i actually get to contribute to these threads now (b/c i finally got to use AT2 for the first time last night).
my first impression was the same as yours Amberience. presets suck my white ass. but if i remember correctly, i hated AT1 at first too. it wasn't until i really get to learn and know the program AND make my own presets, that i really enjoy it.
i did find that it has a great clean sound though. hadn't tried my bass yet.
