Edit: For anyone who might have this problem in the future. The cause of the problem is Cakewalk's VST adapter. Don't use the VSTs in your Cakewalk VST directory. Place them in the Image Line FLStudio 6 VST directory instead and use the FL wrapper. That'll solve the problem. :)

---

Okay, I've been fiddling around with the demo of FLStudio 6 for a while now. Recently I thought... well... I'll buy it in a few days as my birthday present, but when I start using VSTs and som DXi plugins, everything gets messed up except for FL's native stuff (Wasp, Sytrus, Fruity FX, etc.)

For example, this is supposed to be straight eighth notes played on Edirol's Hyper Canvas inserted as a DXi. It plays back fine inside of FL, but when I export it, it sounds like that. FL's own generators like Wasp and FL keys, don't do this.

Also, when I insert VST plugins and go to export whatever I have in FLStudio, the VST's volume goes to zero.

And finally, my FX plugins - LFX1310 (except for its RMS compressor), KarmaFX and Classic EQ - all give me static when I try to use them in the mixer. :|

I've included a screen shot with crude arrows I drew to show you what's going on.

My system specs are:
Compaq Presario, Celeron 2.8ghz with 1gb RAM and Windows XP Home, an Emu 0404 soundcard (Emu ASIO is my main output), FLStudio6.0.8 demo.

I don't think it's an ASIO problem or anything, because I don't have this problem in Cakewalk Sonar LE or Home Studio 2. :(

Any help will be appreciated. I really want to buy FL, but I can't use it like this. If I forgot something, just hit me and ask me what you want to know. :D

wow, that is horrible.

I have no idea what that is.

but im no guru, so i dont know.

I just know that i have never gotten this behaviour before.

have you used any other soft synths besides edirol?
not FL generators, i mean another vsti. Throw in mda piano or something and see if you get the same result.

as far as static problems... hmmm no idea there.
check my profile for contact info.
msn messenger is my email as well.

Yep. Ravity (S) and other synths give me the same problem. :(

ildon do you have that project in FLP format that you can upload so i can test for you? i have the hypercanvas -- and lfx1310 but dont have the other thing shown.

i can test karamfx and allt he other freebies though. let's see if we can get you sorted. PM me the FLP link (no samples so should be small).

i can try to help ya. the 6.0.8 demo reports what in the about box for version? just that 6.0.8 demo? i've got that full and the 6.1 beta installed. will test your project in both.

I can't save with the demo. :| But try using the Hyper Canvas as a DXi, see if you get the same problem. Arke told me his KarmaFX and Classic stuff worked fine, though.

Oh, and yeah, all it says is the FL demo. "This is a demo version!" yaddayadda. I tried reinstalling it too and no go.

This may take a while to suss out, but I can tell you that I use all those plugs (exept edirol and ravity) with no problems. I love karmax and lfx.
I believe, if you have just installed the demo and not adjusted the proram that asio, or at least accessing the drivers is the problem as the default uses the direct sound drivers in windows. Under (IIRC) options? you can select "audio" and select the asio driver you want to use, adjust latency, etc. I would also set the priority to "highest" and deselect the little radio box next to it.
HAve you done these things? They have caused the most grief for people lately with effects as you describe. Also I can't vouch for dx plug-ins at all, never having knowingly used them, in FL
..what goes around comes around..

Post

gonna try putting karmafx plugs on now.

One last thing: I'm not sure if it's worth mentioning or not, but when I used the FL5 demo, none of this happened. The moment I installed the FL6 demo is when everything in both FL5 and 6 went screwy like this.

I did that too. It does what Ravity (S) does. I'm going to go try what ouroboros said.
