I think Teksonic is trying to tell you that there are a relatively small percentage of Reason users here. Of course, there's never been a census that I know of so there actually may be more than I think.
So in terms of marketing you could be trying to sell to a minority rather than a majority with Reason refills.
I know I wouldn't download a Reason demo and set it up just to check out some samples. I do those things as a very big exception rather than any type of rule (ie helping out a developer beta test rewire compatibility). However, I really didn't like Reason at all, so it's not something I would keep on my drive for any period of time.
Now I'm probably not a potential customer of these products anyway so you can feel free to ignore me if you wish. I'm not expert in....well....anything really.
Your website looks a little...erm...cheap to me. Perhaps if you lessened the flashing "New" signs and the font colour changes throughout it may look a little more sophisticated. I think it's great when people turn their music studios into cottage industries, but perhaps do a bit more research into web design. There's so much on offer for today's computer musician and we can be a pedantic lot when it comes to parting with money.
Please don't take offense to any of this as it is not intended and feel free to ignore any or all of it as you wish. Just feedback from one person.

Also, it's probably a good idea to tell people what's in downloads such as this. I have broadband so it doesn't impact me to greatly to have downloaded a 20MB file only to find nothing useful in it. However, for others, not knowing what they're getting could prevent them from even clicking on the link.DORUMALAIA wrote:Oh, you can't wait ? OK , it's here :

O, Caleb,Caleb , you destroy my surprise !
Today is my birthday and i want to do something for the peoples who don't have Reason ! The answer has for Teksonik but i will tell you now about this : is the sample version of SUPERDRUMS 8000)DEMO refill ! Contains 270 drums pieces (wav samples) - size 41 mb - 21 mb archived like rar (using WinRAR 3.20b2). My intention has to be a gift ( because my birthday) to peoples who don't have Reason !
By the other part , on the Net are now few Gb's (!) of FREE samples in refill format and this has my idea , not to download Reason demo only for Doru's FREE samples !
You have right about my site , the design is very ... It's my first site , you must to understand , (but i will solve this next month !)!
Anyway , any suggestions are wellcome , my friends !

Happy Birthday Doru! (sorry a day late).Thank you very much for the SuperDrums .wav Demo! If I hadn't already purchased the cd this demo would have convinced me to to order.I can't wait for the cd to arrive to check out all the samples.Come on guys download this nice collection of drum samples! There's everything from bass drums to snares fingersnaps gongs claps cymbals etc etc all very well organized in folders. The sound quality is excellent and I had a drum kit put together in less than two minutes.Caleb is a long time member of KVR and I respect his opinion a great deal but to say there is nothing useful in this demo download is somewhat baffling.Of course "useful" is in the ear of the beholder.Certainly there must be a least a couple of useful samples for everyone.Yes it is a rather large file but if you have broadband download it,check it out and only keep the samples you like.Doru's .wav Cd contains 8000 samples for only $29.00-shipping included. If the demo samples are any indication it will be money well spent in my mind.I have been as rough on Doru as anyone here-maybe the roughest but I think it would do us all well to support this generous contributor. He has 28 free refills for Reason to download and if we are nice he may convert more to free .wav file downloads for everyone to use. Thanks again Doru and I apologize if I was unkind to you before.I really think KVR should welcome this man with open arms.

Thank you my friend ! I will try to put on the Net and other samples version , i already received some e-mails about help to make this ! But i will continue to put and FREE refills ! Why ? I will try to explain :
Thousands of peoples from entire world use now my WonderfulPads series (3 free refills) ! Each of these refills contains 10 pads . Each pad have only one sample !!! But if i will give you only this one sample for each pad you can do big deal ! You 'll have only one note of a pad and that's all ! But in the refill , this pad is an instrument and if you 'll listen the demo rns song 'll have a big surprise : you 'll listen wonderful dark atmospheres with low pads with effects , or very interesting and beautiful harmonyes on the averrage octaves , or useful high effects on the high octaves ! So to know how you can use and how sounds these samples you must to listen this demo song wich have more about 30 minutes ! And that's not all ! You can cat from this song anything you want LIKE INSTRUMENTS (!) and past on your own project ! Or can modify all how you want , etc ! Only for these ( even if the posibilities are more many) if i will convert all in wav forms i will obtain few Gb's !!! And rns song have only few kb ! You can imagine this ? More , you can sing directly with a keyboard using these pads or can use your mouse to sing poiting a keyboard (placed on the left part for each instrument , or can modify and write anything you want using this pad , or can obtain different instruments sounds , using the mixers with delay , reverb ,etc ! I don't know if you understand exactly what i want to say ! I use now more about 1200 musical programs to make music , but some things can't be obtained in other mode or can be obtained very hard and spending many resources and space from your hd ! Because of this i recommanded to download the demo of Reason , in this mode can acces other treasures wich can not be accesed in other mode ! Continue to use your programs and try and this demos , you don't have nothing to loose ! Always must to keep our mind open ! The target is to make your music more easy and much better ! Try ! I wait very curious your impresions , after you 'll load first WonderfulPads refill on your Reason !
Your true friend ,
Doru

Hi Doru,
sorry for not reading the whole thread, where are these samples from? Did you record them on your own? Do you really own these samples you're distributing? I wonder how PowerUser can already have some of them?

Oh. Didn't see this one.Teksonik wrote:Caleb is a long time member of KVR and I respect his opinion a great deal but to say there is nothing useful in this demo download is somewhat baffling.
I wasn't intending to say that it actually wasn't useful as I haven't listened to any of it.
What I meant was that I had no idea really what I would have been downloading until after I had downloaded it. If it was something in a format I couldn't use, it wouldn't have bothered me much because I have broadband. However, with a 56K modem I would've been mighty pissed off. In fact, the uncertainty would have prevented me from downloading it altogether.
So my line really was trying to offer advice about posting very large download links without any explanations.
I have no idea what these samples sound like. They could be magnificent for all I know. I am throwing no aspersions on the content of Doru's offerings at all.
There - that's better.

oh and about owning :
The copyright on them belongs to the drummer that hitted a snare drum in a song that probably has been recorded somewhere in the 70`s. I wonder if that drummer still lives and if he lives if he or his family gets any money from people that build banks from them. In other words ... people pay for stuff that for example zero g collected and puts on a disk because zero g took time to put them together, which is only fair. But when someone does it's own digging and distributes it for free that would be just as fair I guess.
the administration process and telephone calls you have to do to get samples cleared is simply to much work to be done by any company
so you can't tell me a company like zero g or others does this. I am certain this guy did his own digging like the digging I have done in the past.
Lately I heard a song that contained samples from my voice from a record I did in 1992 (rap) they don't pay me money but I don't even find it useful to sue them or make an arrangement .. I mean they used it creatively and they didn't sell much records so what is the use. You don't see painters paying the heir of Vincent Von Gogh because they use a technique he invented.
let's keep things within perspective.
