Freeztar, listening to your entry.
Just a brief observation - reminds me of The Mavericks, but with Bowie on vocals after a few drinks :hihi:

I stick 'em in my iPod and listen in the car on my way to and from work. Or I listen in my headphones at lunch or in the house.
well i would insist on using headphones so that the efforts for stereo effects are well reveiwed.
I do a bit of both, actually. Listen in the car. Listen in the headphones.

For my 40-something ears, the harder edged stuff goes over better in the car. I might not have voted last month for Donkey Tugger or S.HUSH if I hadn't heard their songs in the car.

Sincerely,

Congratulations

Cheers

and now the next two tracks:

Knockman: dark driving rhythm in lofi...and then comes KnElvis and his boys-choir...linear structure, no verse-chorus-scheme...only the necessary....and it is completely convincing...the best Elvis except for Elvis Costello, but Knockman is the far better singer and the best here at kaviar, imo. You got it and you'll get my vote!

CCSmith: Once upon a time in Shanghai...there was a group of musicians, who wanted to celebrate the birthday of Queen-Mum and this is the result: a wonderful comic-strip-soundtrack of a solemn parade...."and the sun was shining brightly....." and the song is Royal-Class. Great!

Of course! That's what everyone does! That's how you won the contest last month...

:hihi:

Yes. And if all of you could do it again this month that would be great. :P

Wow, mello, thanks. I'm so glad you liked it!

I haven't started listening to the tracks yet (I don't even know who all has entered so far), but Markleford's theme pretty much ensures that this is going to be a very fun month. I loved your description of Knockman's tune. I can hardly wait to hear it.

Yep. I've got some work cut out for me this weekend!

.....more reviews:

Armadillo_Turkish Delight: Overall not a bad track. TBH, it doesn't grab me but nonetheless it is well crafted. It's the break beat style drumming that throws me off. I'd rather hear DnB or no electronica at all (maybe complete percussive elements  ).

THMA: This is attractive. The vocals are a bit on the annoying side however not enough for me to say the song isn't good. I do like it regardless. The vocals sound oriental to me. :hihi:

Richiebee_Ethnicity: The melody is nice however it's more of a "muzak" type of tune (sorry, for lack of a better term) which i could hear being played during a product demonstration or the like. Not my cup of tea.

Niko_Shake that nightmare away
: The start was a bit slow for my tastes, the funk part is, well,...hmmmmm.....let's just say i'll skip this tune :hihi:

Sepheritoh_Resistance
: Sorry, this one doesn't grab me. The melody in the background is ok but the blues guitar riff is too standard for me to pay any attention. :(

Vishals_Hybrid: I like the percussion work. The melody is sweet but too sweet for my tastes. I picture some TV show showing a documentary of some sports hero and it's just about to end, this is the song they could play (take away the rain sounds).

Ccollinsmith_Wong Fei Hung Synthetic March 5D
: And this is the music they would play for some documentary on Tango Argentina :hihi:

Knockman_Glam Goth Elvis' Barn Disco
: Cool song! I agree the hybrid is probably not original (most entries here, including mine, suffer from it  ) but hey....if the song rocks...WHO GIVES A FEK"?! Aye?

This month is quite interesting; there are many very good entries and it's difficult to choose "the best ones". The knockman/elvis is outstanding because of the vox, the atmosphere and the simple structure. I'm very fond of the new 'knockman-minimalism'.
