Hi,

I want to use a vocal that was recorded in Dmajor in a bed track that was recorded in E major. Are there any pitch shifters that will raise a vocal part 2 semitones without making it sound like mini mouse was singing? A good time shifter would be useful too.

right now i am using acid 6.0 pro. the pitch shifter that comes with the software and time stretcher don't work that well and recently it has been causing the software to crash every time i try to use it.

thanks,
Sean

For your purposes Dirac LE might hit the spot. Good points: free, quality is pretty good. Bad points: fairly slow, no GUI (you have to run it from the Windows command prompt). If that doesn't bother you, give it a shot.

Alternatives: Akai Decabuddy and Steinberg Voice Machine VST plugins will also do the trick, but both are discontinued. Otherwise, in the hardware world: the Roland VP9000, and most of the TC-Helicon gear, which is probably the best stuff around for voice manipulation (I may be biased, though, since I contributed to the algorithm design of their products  )
