I have tried out a lots of resonant filter bank VSTs looking for a good tuned string drone emulation. Lots of reverb into dfx rezsynth is not bad but what I would really like to be able to turn off some of the strings in PSP pianoverb to make a chord. Is there a VST that I haven't discovered yet that does this? If not perhaps a synthedit wiz could make one that does (pretty please).

One has. Check out Oli Larkin's Dronebox.bergen wrote:If not perhaps a synthedit wiz could make one that does (pretty please).

someone not very far away helped met get it, pm me and ill pass it on
ariesverb also does simple chords

loaded as Impulse responses ( in SIR for instance ) you can try these 3 variations of an original tuned sample :
www.anak-krakatoa.net/~downl/misc/C_fired.wav
www.anak-krakatoa.net/~downl/misc/C_flanged.wav
www.anak-krakatoa.net/~downl/misc/C_stretched.wav
1) - As they are actually, there all tuned in "C"
2) - As they are from 4 to 6 seconds long, feel free to transpose them to the desired scale by using quite any audio editors...
( the transposing fonction being usually a basic utility algorithm )
...before loading them into SIR
3) - This with the only recommandation to consider the "C" as a middle tune : don't tranpose the original sample more than 6 half-step up or down
4) - Have fun !

well. basically this is nothing but the result of a personal experimentation, i may admit that usually a similar preset created by a comb filter effect like dronebox...bergen wrote:Thanks Krakatau. The impulses sounds completely evil on their own but absolutely wonderful via SIR. Perfect. I may still buy the Dronebox bundle though.
( more properly : a delay line in that the delay time is accurately coïnciding with the entire wavecycle of a monophonic signal at a choosen frequency )
...will always sound somehow warmer !
I don't own dronebox because i'm mac based but i'm persuaded that for what you're looking for, you can't go wrong !
