All I can say is:

"Range"

How did you know? It's exactly what I've always wanted! God bless us, everyone! :hihi:
hi

Can't wait to try it.
Nice Audio Demos and great GUI, Colors and Layout are fantastic.
But those huge Shadows on the Knobs and Buttons are very irritating, any chance of making them smaller?

It is called "Golde Audio Gate", instead of "Classic Audio Gate"...
We got something else coming in this series I know many of you will love :) - Don't ask because I wont tell ;)
I'll bet it is a distortion. :-D I hope so, but whatever it is I know I will loooove it...I use the classic series more than I do any other effects, especially the phaser and limiter.

Is VST Mac planned also?

That was the plan!

The GUI is by the way designed by Rune Lund-Hermansen.

Yes, same dates!

Other than the Ableton Gate effect (which is basic) the only VST one I know is the Ultrafunk Sonitus one (which is my current Gate plugin effect).

As you have tried it Kingston, how does the GAG compare with the Sonitus one in terms of features, flexibility, and most important of course, sound quality?

Very, very nice. This one is at the top of my list.

And Kingston, what a mellifluous voice you have.

well the sonitus could be almost considered "vintage digital". Yeah I remember using it long a go, but even then I didn't find it as good as, say, the internal gate plugin of logic audio, or the freebie - but still sometimes usable - floorfish by digitalfishphones.

I seem to recall the sonitus had a very sloppy and grainy sound, very similar to the sloppy compressor, not all that accurate, but I'll stress this was long a go.

In terms of feature and sound quality, there just isn't a direct equivalent to this new one. I can't say I have ever heard a hardware gate this good either. It's just so *very* accurate. In fact I was mildly surprised when I first looked at the CPU usage in detail.. would've thought it needs more for this sound.

Thanks for the reply 8). That was what I wanted to hear  :D

Kjaerhus' new GUIs look absolutely sweet.

Well, IMO the sonitus gate has no 'sound' at all.
And that is what I need.

It's also very accurate and has an emphasize function,
that boosts adjustable frequencies, when it opens.
AND
it has a variable look ahead !
( the plugin needs to be turned off/on, after changing the lookahead.
This might have caused some unexpected results ... )

I would never buy a plugin gate without look ahead, as fast as it may be ...
If I want to simulate analog gating, I can always turn it off.

Still, I'm very interested in the GAG.
Any chance for a switchable look ahead ??

bye, Jan

likely not as it clashes with the golden audio "hardware and realtime" paradigm.

Also, you really won't need it, GAG-1 is just so damn fast and accurate. The reason you *do* need it with the sonitus is because the gating is *not* fast and accurate, same with the logic audio internal plugin gate. The attack is very sloppy (ie. not transparent) in those without the look-ahead. With GAG there's just no point in it as you can't run into a situation where it would cut your transients.

I'm searching for a good vst effect for sidechain compression. How will this work with your plugin? Can i open an instance of GAG on one channel and 'send' that audiostream to another channel with an instance of GAG set to 'receive' that key signal?
