Wow, that's great news! Yes, that's what I've been trying to get at...a great raw tone!! Great raw tone is what I find missing in the other sims and other DI guitar stuff I've tried but that I find easily in FreeAmp2. It takes well to a little EQ afterwards if you want to smooth it out some, too. It takes well to "polishing" in generalFrettedSynth wrote:Thanks! IMHO FreeAmp2 "as is" is great at giving a raw tone to a direct line guitarguitarzan wrote: I'm all for adding more versatility, but I would just hate to see FreeAmp refined to the point where it had nothing unique left in it, like some of the commercial offerings.That is part of the reason I won't be changing anything in this version (stands quite well all by its own self)
This whole project started around two years ago when I needed a distortion for a synth I was working on "Tripp Lead" before that the most I had done to distort a signal was turn up the drive knob on gear others had made

Over the last two years I have gained quite a bit of knowlage of what it takes to distort a signal in a usable waySo what I intend to do is start from scratch in FreeAmp (remove all amps, speakers and Eq's) keep the rest of the FX and build the synth bigtime
That way FreeAmp2 will remain intact (I like it that way) and I can put all the idea's spinning in my head to use! along with the great sugestions that many have been giving into an all new amp.

Plans for a new amp already?!!
Thanks for helping to make it a very interesting time to be a guitar player.

Thanks for noticing the raw partguitarzan wrote:Wow, that's great news! Yes, that's what I've been trying to get at...a great raw tone!! Great raw tone is what I find missing in the other sims and other DI guitar stuff
Plans for a new amp already?!!I really look forward to that next generation, and at the same time I'm relieved that FreeAmp2 will remain unchanged. More tones to choose from that way

Yeah...the thing is that both "boxiness" and "muddiness" usually indicate too much of certain frequecies are present - EASILY remidied by an EQ after the amp sim (a good start for my setup was a notch around 200 hz). Most of the commercial sims are already OVER EQ'd in an attempt to duplicate some kind of 80's LA studio take on what guitars are supposed to sound like, which I never liked. It is better to have a raw tone to polish than to start with an over polished tone - the edge can never be restored.

Great job sir!
Sounds just as good as NI Guitar Rig to me - surprised you're not charging for it!
Many thanks!!

Sorry to be a pest: please tinker with a FS audio recognition circuit that triggers a sample playback GM or SF sample player with simple GM instruments. That's be a great new tool.

On a bit of the same note, I was working adding some more filters to the synth section for FreeAmp and found that if you turn the "gate" control up to around two O'Clock or more and turn the "decay" down to around ten O'Clock or less, you can get some real quick tracking with lots of sustain

i like you guitarzan, but i disagree with this entire statement.guitarzan wrote:Yeah...the thing is that both "boxiness" and "muddiness" usually indicate too much of certain frequecies are present - EASILY remidied by an EQ after the amp sim (a good start for my setup was a notch around 200 hz). I'm not a guitar player, but listen to how FreeAmp2 makes my free guitar samples sound:

I'm no metalhead but ever since FreeAmp2 was released the only thing I can think of is METAL METAL METAL! Hence my take on the One Winged Angel theme - anyway, thank you, kind FrettedSynth, for enabling this madness
much better than even JCM9000!
I never before knew the distinction between open and closed back, but now I've learned to love them both... very, very much.

I really, really love this new tool. I spent a lot of time last week playing with the sounds and being amazed. I do, though, have to make one small suggestion: The LFO dosen't go slow enough! The slowest I can get it is on Manual setting, the Hump waveform and the Rate knob all the way to the left, but it still goes too fast. I was so wanting to hear some ultra sloooow motion in the sound with the ring modulator, for example. Just to be able to have that slow wash back and forth would add so much. The divisions in the host sync go down to one beat, but what about 2 beats or 4? I could make dozens more patches with just that addition.

Hello
@Niksounds - I'm sorry if I did'nt quite understand the question?
@Moe - Thanks will add 2 and more to the host sync and also make it possable to go a bit more slow on the manual setting. Also will send you the synth bank you made converted from beta2 (let me know if everything sounds right?
@Rellik - Its a plot to make metal take over the music world
Cool stuff
@Jason - Aw! come on
Can you prove that
Thanks all

Massively late to the party, but wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to FrettedSynth for the great work and generosity. Also big kudos to grymmjack for the amazing GUI.
