umm... fanfare, doesn't KORE update the other NI apps exactly so that they are KORE compliant and can be used by KORE in the way it's designed? I have no problem with NI being reluctant to update pirated software in that case.

And why would you say that?fanfarecircuit wrote:hmmm...
i see a few things here...
1. i feel like ew closed the thread at the ni forum alittle prematurely
Because that thread served absolutely no purpose. As I said, check the guy's profile- he's dragged more threads down into a quagmire than any other three people there. I wasn't going to let it happen again.2. then ew comes to kvr to open another thread to bash the guy...i don't see why the original thread couldn't just be kept open.
They aren't questioned- they're non-valid serial numbers. ILLEGAL. There's no question about it at all.3. i'm still not sure what any installation of any other ni product has to do with the kore activation. they were not bought together, so i really feel like ni steps over their boundries in questioning those products. i mean, when my hp printer blows up, i don't demand hp to refund the printer, my desktop, my laptop, my bluetooth headset, everything hp just because one of their products goes bad. if it's not bought together with the same license, what right does ni have to peruse and judge the man's computer or software?
NI's within their rights protecting THEIR property like that.
ew

from what I understand you can load just about any plugin into KORE...if this is the case I don't believe KORE is going to update every plugin you have.Hovmod wrote:umm... fanfare, doesn't KORE update the other NI apps exactly so that they are KORE compliant and can be used by KORE in the way it's designed? Allthough I am a great fan of privacy, I think this dude got it all wrong. First of all, adressing a a person who just does his job this way is uncalled for and childish. It is very clear that he had some cracked versions of other NI software onboard, and to deny this when being told is just silly.
I do think that NI make to much of how they want to prevent piracy, spending all that time to code snippets searching/scanning for unregistered/piracy software takes both time/money and is affecting the users in longer codes, more yadedidyady and so on. But all the major companies does this, I know, so NI is not the only 'evil'...
I am a great fan of Open Source Projects, I know that all software can't be free, but I think OOS provide good alternatives to commercial ones, and they give enough fight that the commercial alternatives really have to do their best to provide a better product. But the iLok, and all the other security measures on todays software really annoys me, cause all I wanna do is make music, and I couldn't care less about company security. In that way I could (almost) want that all would use iLok or some other security device, so that there could be a common platform. But I hate iLok, I've had so many problems with it I just want to flush it down the toilet. But then PT and many other would disappear, so I'm not gonna do that... yet.. Atleast till eXT2 is out
Ok, I'm just rambling on here.. Don't take offence, I am certainly not a pro piracy dude. But please lower your prices will ya?;)
