given some of the 3rd party ext-specific plugins, is it possible to do intelligent "midi pitch shifting" with ext? i mean, is there a plugin for midi that can be setup to pitch shift within a certain key or mode? i want to do something like this with my windsynth. like i play note 64 (middle c) and it puts out 64 plus some other note(s) routed to a vsti. better still would be to have it select from a couple different intervals based on some cc data... like even numbers on the breath controller data stream trigger a 5th below and odd numbers trigger minor 3rd below, etc.

what you would do is feed your transposed notes through something like NDCs MIDIForce2Key plugin. The even/odd interval toggling would be more difficult, but not impossible. A little more description of what you want would be good.

I have no idea what you are talking about but with the chord comps maybe. Or you could use and arpegiator or chord comp with something like gsnap you could to autopitch shifting or something.

i'll check out the ndc plugin to start.
more description... hmm... well, i want to be able to play my windsynth (which can put out midi data) into ext and have the note i play trigger chords relative to that note in a specific key or mode. then, based on some other parameter from the midi that's going out, i want it to switch among different inversions of the chord i've chosen in a seemingly random way. what i'd need is some kind of midi switcher plugin that would send the midi out one of multiple outputs based on some incoming parameter, say the initial value of some cc. so if it gets say an even number on say controller 2, it sends to output 1; if it gets and odd number, it send to output 2, etc.

Try loading this ext file in an instance of energyXT before your VST. You will need the NDC MIDI plugin pack. You'll want to open the CC map on MIDINoteTranspose first, and change the CC #1 to something you're sending from the wind controller. All the chords are set to default right now so you'll need to set up your own inversions for it to do anything cool.
I'm off for a bit, I'll be back to help later if you have any trouble though.

I didnt try changing to a different chord comp with a cc button (if thats where the hanging notes would be) but playing notes staying on the same chord was fine.

ugh, as I feared, it's stuck note city in there. If you used the same amount of notes in every inversion and limited the polyphony on the synth you were playing you could sort of get away with it but...
so much for that I guess :\

are there no 'all notes off' plugins out there. So you could just say 'On key release send all notes off' kind of thing? although how effective it would be I have no idea, and its probably pointless.

really? i haven't tried it at home, but doing some stuff with the sequencer, it seems to work fine. no stuck notes. of course, i have the same number of notes in each chord. maybe i'm not playing it hard enough...

it happens when you modify the channel whilst holding a note. An all 'all notes off' message on release would probably work though, and a midi munger rule should be pretty straightforward for that. (time to dust off the munger manual)
