Markleford, thanks for doing what you did. You did it well.
I hope you (or someone) keeps the Markleford radio alive, I really appreciate that playlist.
Scoops, good luck.

Sounds interesting, too.ccollinsmith wrote:Or of course, you could do what Rachmiel does for the Reaktions compilations...Scoops wrote:

Here's a sample from (x-song) - make every sound in your song from it! Or how about... here's a free vsti - make every sound in your song from it! (It's almost always "make every sound in your song from this").
Can you imagine the, er, uh, JOY you would spread here by doing a theme like that? Think about it!
Oh wait! That's just the "Here... use this" theme, isn't it?

Get a proper boring office job then...Markleford wrote:I just need a re-charge. I'm getting definite music burn out now, since it's pretty much my day job. Thinking about selling the lot, save for the software: all the drums and guitars and horns take up a lot of physical space for something that no longer brings me joy.
(Same thing happened when I did freelance writing: never went back to writing fiction for fun. Now I'm worried that if I go for an MFA in photography/digital imaging that the trend will continue. Art and commerce, eh?)

And I know the "reduction; less is more" argumentation, just would probably be not much fun in doing this. There was a contest here ("graveyard") with the least submissions I have seen.

btw:
THANKS, Markle!!!
You really gave us hard tasks!!! Liked not all of your themes, but a lot of them (Folk from Mars, this month's one...). But you can't please 'em all all the time.
It for sure isn't that easy to be innovative in finding themes for the whole bunch of weirdos here, so you did an excellent job!

Indeed. Thanks for your time at the helm, Markleford. Some very nifty themes, and your good humour and aplomb were much appreciated. (Now you can join us in grumbling about the themes again.Hovmod wrote:Markleford, thanks for doing what you did. You did it well.
Good luck Scoops!

It's actually an admin disease. I found myself doing this inadvertantly at times in the past. Maybe that why Markleford asked me to do the admin.farlukar wrote:btwsince when's the full "Scoops" replaced by the Friedman-style abbreviation?Scoops wrote: [... stuff ...]

The radio is something that I'll be picking up. I'm hopeing to have something in place by the first contest.Hovmod wrote:Markleford, thanks for doing what you did. You did it well.

Well, define friendship. You still owe me $$$ from months past.S.HUSH wrote:Scoops, now that you're the new president, can i be your best friend?
I dont want to let the cat out of the bag so to speak, so let's just say the details of this will be provided when necessary.ccollinsmith wrote: Oh wait! That's just the "Here... use this" theme, isn't it?

Thanks to the past: Markleford & pHz for running the monthly competitions - for the imaginative themes that challenged us all and for the patience and hard work in the administration of them, for drumming up prizes, etc. Much much appreciated.
Thanks to the future: Scoops - tough shoes to fill, but I am sure you are up to the task. Thanks for being willing to take it on.
Best wishes to all.

Hi thomekk. I was just making a joke about the er, uh, JOY Scoops would spread here. It got lost in translation, I guess.thomekk wrote:Would not mean fun to me, but sorta dictatorishccollinsmith wrote:Can you imagine the, er, uh, JOY you would spread here by doing a theme like that? The single sample song that Rachmiel had us do actually WAS pretty fun though - especially since the sample was from "Yakety Yak" and we were all working with Reaktor. I haven't done the single ensemble songs though.
