I am considering this application for mastering, primarily as less expensive solution for hosting the Oxford Plugs. Anyone have any experience or comments?

Yeah Pro Tools is pretty good for mixing and mastering - lots of internal bussing options and exclusive plugins to the RTAS format. The plugin effects chain can be moved around as well and even dragged onto other tracks. Automation is easy to accomplish in pro tools. I'd say it's best suited to mixing/mastering and editing audio files. Midi is where it limps like a gimp.

A fool with a (pro)tool is still a fool ...

In other words: it's not the utils that matter, but how you use them.
