Torben wrote:tombuur, as I see it the font color matches other colors used on the GUI. If you make the font black you have to adjust colors on many other graphical pieces. I like to take peoples critique into consideration but as I see it only a few people are unsatisfied while most people like it. If we used time and money changing it we would probably have just as many complaining again. I do not think you can find a single GUI everyone find completely satisfying, so pleasing everyone is just not possible. The main thing is that a majority thinks it's an improvement.

BTW note that we are one of the few having scales on our knobs at all, most doesn't anyway. I think the graphic designer saw a need to cut down the size of that scale without removing it completely. I think the font is small as well but considdering that others don't have a scale at all I think this is a better solution than removing it (because there are no space for a larger font).

Now you are attacking your potential custotomers and treating us as stupid because we can't read the darn things? How smart was it to get yourself into a situation where you have to pay the designer even more money when he gets the design wrong? The design could be much better than the old, but with reduced legibility, it's worse.

When I worked in a darkened control room, I could just whip out my little flashlight if I couldn't read the markings on the rack-mount gear. That's kind of hard to do on a computer monitor...

If this is an example of how you work with your customers' complaints on something that's not even released, what kind of support can we expect from you after the sale? "Oh, well, I like it that way and besides, it would cost too much to fix." That's not very encouraging customer service from you.

We're not the ones to blame here. Your designer is. You did a masterful job with the internal working and layout. It's exactly what everybody is looking for. Too bad that it's crippled by your designer and just a few simple changes would make the whole thing perfect. I can't see why you're digging your heels in on this. :?:

egarrard, did you have to work hard to get that stupid, or did it come to you naturally?
No, that wasn't me.

This new GUI looks good like how it is now. Don't fix anything on it, it's perfect ^^.

It's not. I'm a current customer.

You're overreacting to a subjective usability feature. Besides the folks that have a lot of religion and passionately persue some detail don't necessarily represent the customer base. You might find out what a real customer base thinks in a vote or poll and you might not. All you can do is present your idea of a fine GUI and move on.

IMO judging from what Torben has already said changing the GUI at this point would be a step backwards. It'll get sorted out in the market place anyway - who knows we might hear this thing and not care about the GUI anymore, It's fine for me...2cents

egarrard you are over reacting.
I start to feel bad about bringing this up.
It's a minor thing, it's not important.
I made my opinion heard and so did others.
I think it's the right thing to do, to give customer feedback to a beloved developer.
I am sure Torben heard us and I am sure he cares about his customers.
However there were others who liked the new design better so ultimately it's up to him to decide how to proceed in the future.
With the launch date coming up tomorrow I would definitely not want to halt the release over font color.
So everybody please RELAX!...... and enjoy the plug!

Egarrard, not all developers are as obsessive about usability/HCI/interfaces as some users. One alternative may be to download Resource Hacker and edit the graphics until they are acceptable.

Umm, as has been said before the read-outs for each knob appears under it in white text on black background - you can't get any clearer or more contrasting than that :dog: :nutter:

Consider the labelling surrounding the knobs as eye-candy then!

No, I don't. As I said I am more than open to suggestions from customers but a GUI is a matter of taste and I do not think it is possible to make a GUI that pleases everyone and 8-9/10 seems to be happy with it, which is better odds than I would hope for in any design.

Most people seems to think is it much better!

We take bug reports very seriously and we listen to customers suggestions. The GUI is not a bug but a matter of taste. I would like the scala font a little bigger myself but it is not a real issue as you got the readout below.

I really do not see why any one should be blamed; we got a design most people think is an improvement. I will ask the designer to look at it one more time, but I can not promice you anything, and it would not be possible to change before the release tomorrow.

Well, the "feeling" of the knob is more important than looks :D. Maybe Ohm Force should pass their "knob code" around.

Whether this product sells will not be a proof of the appeal of the GUI as someone suggested. I like the old GUI better, but will buy this plug-in, anyway.

Haven't got any mail about a rebate, though, so owning MPL-1 Pro only doesn't make me qualified I guess. BTW, while bashing, MPL-1 has a dull interface, and that didn't keep me from buying that either.

tombuur, not all mails are out yet!
