The Yamaha SPX2000 Hs a preset called 'Big Snare'. It's essentially a gated reverb, But i've grown super fond of it on snare and toms...
I've been trying to get a similar effect off VST reverb, ambience doesnt help... got a bit close, not too much though... Any help with alternative reverbs or ways ???

But i wanna tweak... Nice idea though.. only cant bring the unit home... Get to use it at live gigs only... rental company owns it...

I had tried that big snare IR with Convolution and it does work nice...

BigSnare impulse in the SPX990 pack but I think it has the same character...
At least all these impulse are not perfect...

both AA reverb and Masterverb 5 are supposed to be able to create some gate reverb effects
As a free unit, you can try to use Smartelectronix' s Bouncing ball delay and make some tweaking that can give you an honourable job...though i must say by experience that it is quite unintuitive on that purpose, ...but you can !
