Hey guys, this obsession with Reaper has me wondering what percentage of people actually actually need and/or utilize all the features of their current DAW of choice.

People on the Sonar forums were touting this thing as the next coming, and when I tried it I couldn't believe how minimal in was in terms of "standard DAW" features. Yeah yeah, I know its new, and in beta, and not-at-1.0 yet, but its seems that when the next rev of Sonar/Logic/Cubase/Nuendo/Whatever is released, there are a TON of people screaming about how features were left out, or not up to snuff with competitors etc.

Then something like Reaper comes out, and it seems there are just as many people screaming about how "this is how a DAW should be, lean, mean and without the fluff".

So I'm just curious... who actually likes their daw? :)
If it sounds good it is good.

I started making Tunafish when I needed a new sequencer. It has what I want it to have: I like my host (I hate the term DAW since it is supposed to refer to hardware setups) simple, linear and lightweight. A bit like what my ancient previous sequencer was (Cakewalk Pro 3.0) but with VST, effects and a drumgrid added.

So yeah.. juuuuust right it is for me. :)

For me its not about the features as much as ease of use. I have not tried reaper yet mainly because I want to spend my time making (well trying to make) music :) I am just getting back into computer music so I have a lot of catching up to do.

The latest version of ORION is starting to show definite signs of bloat. There is so much hidden stuff that people don't even remember is there and for every good new feature there seems to be another that gets in the way. Overa ll it is probably very slightly better than the previous version but the only thing that would make me pay the upgrade [if I had to] is the new distortion effect.
